It’s not just the fans that have strong opinions. Tracy Melchior, the actress who’s played Kristen Forrester Dominguez on The Bold and the Beautiful on and off since 2001, recently took to social media to vent her frustrations at the soap’s direction.
Among the plethora of comments made in response to Supervising Producer Casey Kasprzyk’s Instagram post, which featured a promo video depicting Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) exercising his rights as Eric’s (John McCook) medical proxy, was a series of remarks by Melchior.
First, she took exception to her alter-ego’s brother being the one who gets “all the say so,” arguing that “I think all of us siblings should be discussing.” In response to James Lott Jr’s assertion that she should be there, Melchior wrote, “They are making my character look awful not there for my son EVER now not there for my dad!!”
As for the onscreen explanation that Kristen couldn’t attend Eric’s family soirée (find out how that glittering night ended in a nightmare) because she’d joined siblings Felicia and Rick (also conspicuous by their absence) on safari, Melchior opined, “Yeah it is so lame it’s funny…Not agreeing [with] how they are writing Kristen! She had a very good relationship w[ith] her dad and would be there…she had a colorful relationship w[ith] her mom Stephanie and came back for her.”
Melchior’s passionate defense of her character and decrying Kristen’s absence is most understandable. Not only has Kristen long been written as the apple of her daddy’s eye, but there exists a very real possibility that this is McCook’s swan song.
Though it appears that dynamo doctor Finn Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) might have the cure for what ails Eric, nothing is granted in the wacky, wonderful world of soap operas.
