Kim Matula, who played Hope Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful, is appearing on stage taking on a new role in a very familiar TV series. She’s being joined in a live production of the TV series Designing Women along with one of Linsey Godfrey’s (ex-Caroline) soap opera pals.
“Hi!! Two of my friends are in an awesome play together!!” posted Linsey Godfrey (ex-Caroline, B&B; ex-Sarah Days of our Lives). Along with Matula, who plays the role of Haley McPhee, a new character, who works as a receptionist at Sugarbaker’s, the cast of the Designing Women stage show includes Carmen Cusak, wife of Paul Telfer (Xander, DAYS). Cusak plays the role of Julia Sugarbaker, the part originated by the late Dixie Carter (ex-Brandy, Edge of Night).
“Yes [it’s] like the show but with a new take on it!” Godfrey adds. The stage production is set in modern-day and deals with the women deciding whether or not to sell the design firm business. “@paultelfer and I keep joking our wives are working together!… There are also streaming tickets available as well! Head over to @theatresquared for more information!! I’m super proud of both of them! This is Kim’s first one! What a bunch of talented babes, am I right?! #designingwomen.”
Matula, who played Hope Logan from 2010 to 2016, posted on her page how she felt the debut went. “I just did my first professional stage production. My first play since high school,” the actress posted. “And I had THE BEST time. Thank you for coming out tonight Fayetteville!!”
While Elaine Hendrix (Alexis, Dynasty 2021) is credited with playing the part of Designing Women‘s Charlene, the part originated by Emmy-winner Jean Smart (Hacks, HBO), daytime vet Tonja Walker (ex-Olivia, General Hospital; ex-Alex, OLTL) shares on social media that she’ll be stepping in shortly.
“Last night at Opening Night for Designing Women by Linda Bloodworth Thomason and directed by Harry Thomason,” Walker posted. “So funny and brilliant… I play Charlene from September 28th through October 24th (rumors of extension to October 31st) @theatresquared is the theater in Fayetteville, Arkansas. They are even selling tickets for streaming! Hope you see it! It’s the World Premiere! Talk of big things! Love you! Thanks for your support all these years. I’m a lucky woman.”
In another B&B connection, Kimberlin Brown (Sheila) commented on Walker’s post, “Go get ’em girlfriend! @theatresquared in #fayettevillearkansas much #love @kimberlin_brown.” For information on streaming tickets, click here.
