Daytime television is allowed to venture away from real life. It’s an escape from fans. But that’s not the case with Lifetime, in which most of its movies are “ripped from the headlines.” Jones shared on Instagram what she’s been quietly working on when she’s not filming critical hospital scenes on B&B.

She shared a screenshot of an article published on The Hollywood Reporter. The headline reads, “Lifetime’s New ‘Ripped From the Headlines’ Films Set for September.” This film, which is based on real-life events, features stars Alina Thompson, Courtney Stodden, and Lisa Aguilar. It also includes actors Jones, Holly Barrett, Doug Savant, Marilu Henner, and Sam Trammell.
In the caption, Jones admitted that she’s been keeping this secret for a while. She wrote, “I can’t tell you how happy I am to talk about it!!! It’s an 80s period -true crime piece that my partner Pierre David and I have nurtured from the ground up….” The soap star pitched this idea to Lifetime “over a year ago.” She played double-duty by starring and producing the film. “Very proud to have produced this one with an amazing team,” Jones concluded.

Expressing Gratitude
In her message, Jones listed off “ALL our amazing cast and crew.” She teased that there would be “more to come.” Now that the secret’s out, Jones is free to share more information about this project. The Young and the Restless star Lauralee Bell was the first to share her support. She commented, “Great job EP,👏👏👏” to which Jones responded, “We need to do one!!!” Bell replied, “100%🙌”
B&B co-star Naomi Matsuda, who plays Dr. Li Finnegan, wrote, “YASSSSSS!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏” Jones responded, “awww friend. Thx.” Most fans were happy to see Jones take on this incredible role. Unfortunately, there were also some trolls and naysayers in the comments section.
