Daytime Television met Late Night TV on a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The talk show host heard about the folks at The Bold and the Beautiful using mannequins for love scenes to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and the comic commented on how one scene played out.
The Bold and the Beautiful Amuses Jimmy Fallon
“😂😂😂😂 @kiarabarnesofficial and I got roasted by @jimmyfallon @fallontonight Man, what we’ll do for our art,” posted Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter), along with a video of Fallon showing a clip of Carter moving in for a kiss on Zoe (Kiara Barnes). “#mannequinchallenge #boldandbeautiful 😂😂😂 #thetonightshow #jimmyfallon’
“Ok so now @jimmyfallon got jokes!!!” Barnes posted on her Instagram page. “😂😂😂😂 y’all are so wrong for this 🤣🤣🤣 I’m still cracking up though..👀👀@boldandbeautifulcbs @lsaintvic will we ever live this down?😂 #jimmyfallon #cbstv #boldandbeautiful also hair s/o @trentonsluxecouture ✨.”
“Due to the cornavirus, soap opera actors are doing kissing scenes with mannequins,” Fallon said in his monologue. “It’s a little distracting.” The former Saturday Night Live cast member then cut to the tape of the scene in which Carter and Zoe locked eyes and he moved in for a kiss.
“Yeah, man, that’s right!” Fallon continued. “After one kiss, another mannequin rolled in and said, ‘Rodrigo, how could you? That’s my twin!'”
While Fallon poked fun at soaps in this instance, he has shown great reverence for them in the past, certainly the folks who play on them. In 2017, he plucked Bill Hayes (Doug, Days of Our Lives) from the show’s audience and invited him up on stage for an impromptu interview and to introduce the show’s musical guest. Hayes had appeared on the original Tonight Show, hosted by Jack Parr and when it was hosted by Johnny Carson, too.
Kudos to BB for employing safety measures that allow the actors to continue to work safely. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
