The Bold and the Beautiful got some good ratings news for the week ending September 11. The half-hour soap earned its biggest audience since April.
The Bold and the Beautiful Numbers
According to the Nielsen ratings, BB reached 2.73 million viewers – the show’s largest audience in almost five months, since the week ending April 24.
What was going on that week that had viewers tuning in? Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Bill (Don Diamont) squared off over Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang). Liam (Scott Clifton) started to grow concerned about Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) welfare. Brooke and Quinn (Rena Sofer) argued over Quinn meddling in Brooke’s life.
Plus, Quinn orchestrated Bill’s arrival at her home, hoping to drive a further wedge between Ridge and Brooke. Eric (John McCook) shared with Brooke his wish that whatever is going on doesn’t affect their long friendship.
The Bold and the Beautiful debuted on March 23, 1987. The half-hour soap was created by the late William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell. It has taped at Television City (formerly CBS Television City) in Hollywood for its entire run. The show has gone on remote to shoot on location in Italy, Australia, Barbados, and Catalina Island.
Two of the show’s actors — McCook and Lang — appeared in the first episode and have been with the soap ever since. Guest stars on the serial over the years include Fabio, Steve Allen, Jayne Meadows, Carol Channing, and Dionne Warwick. Another familiar face, Phyllis Diller played Gladys, who helped Taylor (Hunter Tylo) disguise herself when she wanted to keep her identity a secret. Gladys later became pals with Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley).
The show has extended invitations for competitors on the CBS reality series Big Brother to appear on the show, too. BB has won three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Bradley Bell serves as the show’s executive producer and head writer. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
