The Bold and the Beautiful, which was the first reported scripted show to return to production last summer after setting up vigorous COVID-19 safety protocols, has done some juggling following a crew member testing positive for the coronavirus.
Deadline reports that earlier this week, on Wednesday, a BB crew member tested positive. As a result, procedures involving contact tracing commenced. Everyone who had contact with the infected individual was requested to self-isolate.
BB had a scheduled two-week Thanksgiving hiatus set to go into effect on Monday. The half-hour soap added some extra episodes into yesterday’s taping schedule, allowing the BB break to commence today.
BB was created by the late William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell. It debuted on March 23, 1987. In the first episode, viewers were introduced to the Forrester family, Bill Spencer, Sr. (Jim Storm), and the Logans. Today, over 33 years later, the Forresters and the Logans are still on the screen. Spencer’s son, Bill Spencer, Jr. (Don Diamont) has taken over his father’s publishing empire.
Other characters occupying the canvas now are Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) children Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) as well as Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) daughter Hope (Annika Noelle) and Bill’s offspring Liam (Scott Clifton) and Wyatt (Darin Brooks). There’s another generation already involved in the show’s storylines — Thomas’s son Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri) and Liam and Hope’s daughter, Beth, and Liam and Steffy’s daughter, Kelly.
Long-standing sets on the show include the Forrester mansion, home to Eric (John McCook) and… well, if he doesn’t reunite with estranged wife Quinn (Rena Sofer), it’s going to be simply Eric’s place. The hallway and offices at Forrester Creations have been around since the beginning, too.
Bradley Bell serves as BB’s executive producer and head writer. The show has won three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series, taking home the gold in 2009, 2010, and 2011. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
