Steffy Forrester is set to take her vows and become Mrs. Finnegan any minute. The Bold and the Beautiful has set the stage for a dramatic day but not a very dramatic ceremony. While using the Forrester Mansion as an altar may sound good to some, it just doesn’t seem very…Steffy.
Can we talk about how boring it is for the new generation Queen of Schemes and Forrester fashion house CEO to do something so normal? Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) shown up and taken another woman’s place as a bride, flown in from a zip line in the sky, and even rode in as a badass motorcycle hottie. Even her toned-down beach wedding to Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) offered more excitement than this.
Not to mention no Bold and the Beautiful wedding in the Forrester living room ever works out. Not one single time. Every single couple who takes their vows in the family home divorces — no exceptions.
Heck, just look at how many times Eric Forrester (John McCook) has said “I do” in the cursed little room. That alone should spell out bad news to anyone paying attention. Why doesn’t Steffy just don Taylor Hayes’s (Hunter Tylo) dress from her failed marriage to Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and doom her union completely?
This is not the rebel wedding we’ve come to know, love, and expect from the Forrester Princess. We just can’t see Steffy being happy with anything less than some glitz and glam. This is all just too normal for our favorite heroine. Will she look back on this day and wish she had put in the effort she did for all the Mr. Wrongs when Finn is Mr. Right?
Adding to all this is Finn (Tanner Novlan) being less than exciting, to begin with. Yes, he and Steffy look amazing together. Sure, he is one of the greatest and nicest guys ever. But, he sure has toned down our powerhouse player. He has effectively made Steffy quite the housewife. No schemes, no scams – just work, inviting virtual strangers to live with them, raising two beautiful children, and working towards a bright future. Yawn.
Let’s face it, the most interesting thing about Finn is his biological mother, Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown). Maybe this discovery will turn things around and add some spice to everything nice. Finn will soon find out his biological mother is a maniac. Wouldn’t it be great to watch him step up to protect his family from the likes of Sheila? He could come off as quite the hero. Or will she seduce him to the dark side?
All in all, we’d like to see more for Steffy. We want her happy but not without some sacrifice. Give her a rival (looking at you, Sheila), make her husband a hunky protector, and give us some high drama and tension along the way. This is a soap, after all.
