Jacob Young is known to daytime fans for his runs on The Bold and the Beautiful (ex-Rick), General Hospital (ex-Lucky), and All My Children (ex-J.R.), and they also know that he’s a talented singer. Now, the Daytime Emmy-winner has landed a new gig that’s right up his alley.
The actor posted on social media he’s working on High School the Musical: The Musical – The Series. Young shared the news in his Instagram stories, which tend to stay up for just so long, but his post read: “Great First Day on High School The Musical: The Series!”
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series debuted in 2019. The show is a “mockumentary” style series, which was inspired by the High School Musical film series.
The series is set at a fictionalized version of the locale of the original movie, a fictionalized version of East High School. Series stars are Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Olivia Rodrigo, Larry Saperstein, Joshua Bassett, Julia Lester, Dara Reneé, Frankie Rodriguez, Mark St. Cyr, and Kate Reinders. Former Days of our Lives star Olivia Rose Keegan has a recurring role as Lily.
The first season consisted of 10 episodes. High School Musical: the Musical – The Series won a 2020 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Kids & Family Programming.
No word yet on who Young will be playing. Perhaps a parent to one of the students or a teacher? The actor’s fans would certainly enjoy hearing him sing on the show, so hopefully, he’s been cast for his singing ability as well as his acting talent!
In 2001, Young’s self-titled CD debuted. In January of this year, he released the song Lovin’ It. “My first music video (Lovin’ It) in 20 years, here’s a quick preview,” Young posted on social media. “Are you Lovin’ It? Do you want to see more? Special thanks to @thestevefreeman for producing and directing. #lovinit.” On the music front, he’s also performed as Lumiere in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.
High School the Musical: the Musical – the Series Season 2 debuts on Friday, December 11 on Disney+. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
