Soap Vet Jacob Young Growing Stache to Take Part in Movember

Jacob Young has seven Daytime Emmy nominations—including a win for playing Lucky Spencer on General Hospital. The soap vet’s other noms came from playing JR Chandler on All My Children and Rick Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful.

But none of his trio of Daytime Emmy-nominated characters ever had a mustache! For fans wondering what that would have looked like, the actor posted a photo of himself on Instagram sporting a mustache and beard, in honor of the upcoming Movember, a charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men’s health.

“Don’t Bash The Stache! Remember Movember!” Young wrote. “So Shave the date, Nov. 1st! Grow A Mo To Save A Bro!”

Run by The Movember Foundation, the global charity helps those suffering from prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. Since starting in 2003, the charity has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects.

“We exist to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives—this is what drives every single one of our 1,250 men’s health projects,” The Movember Foundation wrote on its website. “In everything we do, we strive to be transparent and accountable. We report thoroughly on each project so that our Mo Bros and Mo Sisters can see how their support is changing the lives of men around the world.”

The goal is to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25 percent by the year 2030.

The idea to help men came from friends Travis Garone and Luke Slattery, two Australians who met up for a beer in Melbourne and talked about how the mustache was no longer in vogue. They decided to try and bring it back and raise money for a good cause and found 30 guys willing to take the challenge and grow a mustache.

To date, more than 5 million people have taken part, and men around the world are encouraged not to shave throughout the entire month, raising money for the cause. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
