The Daytime Emmy nominated digital drama series, Studio City, boasts several cast members from The Bold and the Beautiful in it. Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon) stars as Sam Stevens and Sarah Brown (ex-Agnes) plays Laurie. It appears the show is headed back for a sophomore season based on some video that was shot behind the scenes!

Brown, a three-time Daytime Emmy winner for her role as Carly on General Hospital, shot some backstage footage of Studio City and posted it on her Instagram. The actress recorded video interviews with Studio City stars Tristan Rogers (ex-Hunter, BB; Robert, GH), who scored a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series for playing Doc, Carolyn Hennesy (Diane, GH; Gloria, Studio City), and Erin Michele Soto (Anastasia, Studio City).
“Studio City Behind the Scenes with @isarahjoybrown,” Brown posted on Instagram. “Studio City Show BTS with @carolynhennesy @erinmichelesoto @timothywoodwardjr @tristanrogers73.”
One fan, @promiseofaneday1, wrote that Soto is not unlike the late Brittany Murphy. “Similar look and energy.”
Kanan created Studio City, which is directed by Timothy Woodward Jr. The series has autobiographical elements to it given Kanan has appeared not only on BB but also on GH as A.J. and on Sunset Beach as Jude. He also brought Deacon over to The Young and the Restless.
The first season of Studio City also starred Patrika Darbo (Shirley, BB; Violet, Studio City) and Scott Turner Schofield (ex-Nick, BB; Max, Studio City), the first openly transgendered actor on soap operas.
Studio City has addressed issues including ageism, sexual harassment, gender identity, and #metoo. Michele Kanan (Sean’s wife) is a writer/producer on the series. Juliet Vega, Sean and Michele’s daughter, plays Sam’s surprise love child. Studio City Season 1 streams on Amazon Prime.
