It’s November sweeps so the soaps have been pulling out all the stops to draw eyeballs into the fictional towns of Genoa City, Salem, and Port Charles, as well as the fictionalized version of real city Los Angeles. Here’s a look at how the soap opera ratings stacked up in the weekly Nielsens for The Young and the Restless, Days of our Lives, and The Bold and the Beautiful for the week ending November 20th!
Soap Opera Ratings
In the overall numbers, in which each rating point counts for 1.210 million viewers, YR came in first with a 2.30 (2.7 million viewers), BB was in second place with 1.96 (2.38 million viewers), GH was third with 1.43 (1.73 million viewers), and DAYS was in fourth place with 1.23 (1.49 million viewers).
In the coveted advertiser demographic of Women 18-49, YR was tops among soaps with a .43, BB was second with a .36, DAYS took third place with .34, and GH ranked fourth with a .33. What were the stories drawing people in last week?
The Young and the Restless
On YR, Adam (Mark Grossman) was close to losing his mind. Nate (Sean Dominic) was frustrated by the slow recovery from his hand injury. Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) let Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) know she wanted Adam back. Sally (Courtney Hope) looked into running Lauren’s (Tracey Bregman) boutique, but the Fenmore’s department store chief told Sally that she already had someone else in mind for that job.
Days of our Lives
Over on DAYS, Philip (Jay Johnson) met with his secret accomplice — Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun), who is alive and well! Eli (Lamon Archey) confessed to Lani (Sal Stowers) that if he didn’t help Melinda (Tina Huang) send Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) to jail, she’d have gone after Lani. Abigail (Marci Miller) woke up with a hangover.
General Hospital
On GH, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) rejected her family and friends after they attempted an intervention. A bomb went off in The Floating Rib with several characters inside including Lulu (Emme Rylan), Dustin (Mark Lawson), and Dev (Ashton Arab).
The Bold and the Beautiful
On BB, Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) continued to grapple with his mental issues. The Hope mannequin (voiced by Annika Noelle, Hope) appeared to continue to taunt poor Thomas. Zende (Delon de Metz) showed Paris (Diamond White) some designs, but the model in his sketches greatly resembles Zoe (Kiara Barnes).
