Soap Opera Comings And Goings: Missing Stars Return, Vets Leave

 Comments

Who’s coming and who’s going from the casts of The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), Days of our Lives (DAYS), General Hospital (GH), and The Young and the Restless (YR)?

Soap Opera Casting For The Week Of July 11, 2022

Here’s a list of the top exit and entrance news from all four daytime dramas. Find out if any of your favorite performers from yesteryear are returning to the shows you follow, or if any new actors or actresses have been cast in contract, recurring, or day player roles.

The Young and the Restless

Melissa Ordway, who’s been missing in action as Abby Newman Chancellor on The Young and the Restless, is back on the job at the soap opera’s CBS studios. She shared the news on Instagram along with a behind-the-scenes photo with her TV husband, Conner Floyd (Chance). “Abby’s back,” she posted. “After Monte Carlo and then quarantine it feels so good to be back in Genoa City!” The actress had tested positive for Covid after a publicity trip to Monaco.

And, in a bit of a mystery, The Young and the Restless is casting the role of Aiden, who will be recurring. The part is under-five-lines and principal — two episodes as of now; there will be more. Aiden is 13 years old, a dynamic teen with blond or light brown hair. Athletic, whip-smart, and perceptive, he faces now the growing angst and confusion of adolescence, which is beginning to give him an edge. He’s learning to hide his sensitivity behind a dry, clever wit.

Days of our Lives

Alison Sweeney is wrapping up her three-week visit as Sami Brady on Days of our Lives. Look for the character to leave town and head back to Europe on Friday, July 15. Sweeney returned to the soap opera on June 23.

Meanwhile, Heather Lindell has departed as Jan Spears. The character fell into the Salem River, after an altercation with Belle Black Brady (Martha Madison) last week. Lindell had been back on the canvas since April 4th.

There’s a new cop heading to Salem, later this month. Elia Cantu has been cast as Jada Hunter. Cantu’s primetime credits include 9-1-1, Black-ish and This Is Us.

General Hospital

Over at General Hospital, there’s more news on the sub-front. After being replaced on and off by Robert Adamson since June, Chad Duell is back on the soap opera as Michael Corinthos permanently.

However, Asante Jones is stepping back in as Marcus Taggert, this week. The character is normally portrayed by Réal Andrews.

Former Falcon Crest and Flamingo Road star Morgan Fairchild wrapped up her guest spot as home shopping host Haven de Havilland. In addition, Susan Batten (ex-Luna Moody, One Life to Live; ex-Connor, As the World Turns) finished her gig as fellow home shopping star Flora Gardens.

The Bold and the Beautiful

After nine long months, Pam Douglas is finally set to resurface on The Bold and the Beautiful. Alley Mills returns as the Forrester Creations secretary on Wednesday, July 13. She last appeared on the soap opera in October of 2021.

Dick Christie is back on the scene as Pam’s beau, Charlie Webber, too. He airs on Wednesday, July 13, and Thursday, July 14.

Ken Hanes makes a few more appearances as Sheila Carter’s (Kimberlin Brown) partner in crime, Mike Guthrie. He’ll air Tuesday, July 12, Wednesday, July 13, and Friday, July 15.

On the cop scene, Dan Martin is back as Deputy Chief Baker. He’ll appear on Tuesday, July 12, and Wednesday, July 13.
