Forrester Creations has always been part design house and part hotbed of personal drama so, it was fitting that Grace Buckingham walked around the place trying to iron out her daughter’s love life. For her role as a determined mother, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week for B&B honors on Cassandra Creech, who plays Grace.
Cassandra Creech – Performer of the Week
Perhaps it’s because Paris Buckingham’s (Diamond White) father Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady) made such a mess of things when he kidnapped baby Beth Logan or maybe it’s simply Grace’s instinct to look out for her daughter that caused the Buckingham matriarch to get in Carter Walton’s (Lawrence Saint-Victor) face. The good doctor spied Paris and Carter smooching in an office and realized she had to nip this dynamic in the bud!
Grace hasn’t been in town for long but she’s firm in her belief that Paris should be with Zende Forrester Dominguez (Delon de Metz) and that Carter needs to back off – especially since her other daughter Zoe Buckingham still has feelings for Carter, her former fiancé.
Cassandra played Grace all sweetness and charm as she chatted with Carter about what a great guy Zende is and how Paris deserves the best in life. Then, Grace dropped her façade by telling the COO that who’s best for Paris is Zende — and not him!
B&B wrote the book on meddling matriarchs who move heaven and earth as they dictate the love lives of their children. Grace is a bit of a throwback to the late Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery). The Forrester matriarch got it in her head that Brooke Logan wasn’t the right woman for her son Ridge Forrester and also that Caroline Spencer should remain wed to Thorne Forrester even though she didn’t love him. Well, now, we have Grace, who is fiercely adamant that her daughter Paris be paired with Zende. Grace said that if Carter didn’t step away she’d inform the Forresters what he was up to. She doubts that the fashion family will be so forgiving a second time following them getting past Carter’s fling with Quinn Fuller Forrester (Rena Sofer).
Kudos to Lawrence Saint-Victor’s Carter, who didn’t let Grace walk all over him. He pointed out a few things to Grace including the fact that his and Zoe’s engagement ended after she threw herself at Zende. Creech’s response to this bit of news was telling as the look on Grace’s face read as if she did not know about this despite having conversations with Zoe. (The Forrester model wouldn’t be the first person to omit a few key facts when relaying their version of a love story gone bad.)
Cassandra Creech plays Grace as a woman who means business. Clearly, she’s not fooling around. It’s fair to say that Grace is reading from Stephanie’s playbook. She’s going to use every ounce of strength to make sure that Paris and Zende end up together. We’re not sure what Grace will do next to make this happen. She might set up surveillance cameras, arrange for forged letters to be written, or even fake a heart attack – all things that Stephanie did over the years in order to try to split up Ridge and Brooke. We are confident that Cassandra Creech will continue to bring strong choices to her role as Grace Buckingham, a formidable matriarch.
