The Bold and the Beautiful star Sean Kanan is perhaps one of the nicest soap actors around. He often shares inspirational messages with fans on social media, and has changed many lives with his book series, Way of the Cobra. The Karate Kid III and Cobra Kai star recently took time to post a tribute to another Karate Kid actor who died, Chad McQueen.
Beloved by All
Chad McQueen was well-known for playing Dutch in the first two Karate Kid films. He was also the son of the late legendary actor Steve McQueen. At age 63, McQueen died on September 11 from organ failure, and Kanan took to Instagram to remember the fallen star. “I never met Chad McQueen but was saddened to learn he passed,” he wrote, adding, “He made an unforgettable impression on the Karate Kid universe. Wishing his family strength and peace during this difficult time. RIP Chad.”
Variety reported that McQueen’s family requested privacy as they reeled from his tragic passing. Fans recalled the actor from the film series, as one replied, “Ohh noo 😢😢😢😢 . Not Dutch 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🕊️🕊️.” Another of Kanan’s followers responded with a heartfelt statement: “I met him on numerous occasions he lived in the Palm Springs area one cool gentleman had a nice collection of cars in his garage. RIP Chad!!!”
He Defied Death Before
Just like his famous dad, McQueen was an actor first and then later pursued his passion for car racing. He created a company called McQueen Racing that developed cars and motorcycles emphasizing high performance. According to The Sunday Times Driving, he attributed his love for fast vehicles to his dad, stating, “His love of cars was so infectious, it screwed me up for life.”
In 2006, McQueen narrowly escaped death during a practice race for an event called 24 Hours of Daytona. He described the results of the horrific event in which he was in a coma for almost four weeks. He also recalled, “[I] broke my neck, broke my left leg, basically both the tibia and fibula. Yeah, broken arm, all my ribs on the right side, collapsed lung,” which left lasting scars and medical issues.
Along with B&B’s Kanan, who plays Deacon, fans mourned the loss of the actor/racer who pursued his dreams with all of his heart. (Find out how Deacon sought redemption.)
