Soap Hub has suggested in the past a new fashion house make the scene on Bold and the Beautiful to give Forrester Creations a run for its money. However, a recent scene between Ridge and his father, Eric, showed that conflict could come from within and not just from the outside at the House of Forrester.
Forrester Creations: A House Divided
Before making their way to Beth’s birthday party, Eric and Ridge had some work to finish up in the office. Once RJ (Joshua Hoffman) made his big pitch (again) to Liam (Scott Clifton) that he reunite with Hope (Annika Noelle), the two top designers got down to business. They were at odds on which way a design could go. Eric wanted a more traditional look; Ridge wanted to bring something new and edgy to the gown.
“Edgy is good,” conceded Eric, who hastened to add that “classic never goes out of style.” Ridge countered that fashion is a crazy animal that keeps evolving and changing. Sensing his father’s disappointment, Ridge agreed to do it his dad’s way. Eric caught on to Ridge, changing his mind for his sake, and called him out on it, asking his son not to patronize him.
Eric Forrester’s Legacy Line
Eric (John McCook) suggested that he and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) collaborate on a “legacy line,” something that he could do for his legacy in the world of fashion, his company, and for some of their long-standing customers. Ridge begged off, saying he was too busy right now. Sensing his father’s disappointment, Ridge changed the subject to the topic of Beth’s birthday party.
Let’s hope B&B revisits this story beat that’s been addressed. We get that bringing on another fashion house (which might mean a whole other fashion family) might not be viable, but there’s plenty of conflict that could come from within the fashion house.
Ridge and Eric have sparred before over whether the company should stay traditional or expand into different looks. The late Stephanie (Susan Flannery) was vehemently opposed to change, but that didn’t stop Brooke, the company’s one-time top stockholder, from introducing both the Men’s Line at Forrester and also Brooke’s Bedroom, which sells lingerie.
Forrester Creations Up for Grabs
Imagine if the fashion company was divided again between Eric wanting the company to stay classic and Ridge wanting to move it in new directions. Who might side with Eric, and which employees would lean into Ridge’s vision?
Conflict between these two designers would organically involve other family members. Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) has been on his best behavior, but what if he and RJ found themselves at odds over the opposing ideas held by their father and grandfather?
Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) would get involved, too, and might find herself in a work environment conflict with both Hope and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), who has a proven track record for taking Forrester to new places. If a rival learned of friction within the House of Forrester, it’d be a great opportunity for a competitor to get the upper hand against Eric and his family.
The story has the potential to involve other characters, too. Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) would want this story covered at his magazine, Eye on Fashion. His pursuit of headlines could throw a wrench into a potential reconciliation with Katie (Heather Tom).
