What’s a woman to do – move in with her hot younger lover or reconcile with her rich older husband? Quinn opted for the latter, ending her passionate affair with studly Carter Walton, when tried-and-true Eric Forrester announced he wanted her back and ripped up their divorce papers. And, frankly, reuniting Quinn Fuller Forrester and Eric was The Bold and the Beautiful’s best choice.
Sure, Quinn’s (Rena Sofer) affair with Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) was red-hot steamy, and, along the way, they developed genuine feelings of love for each other. But where could the relationship have really gone? If they had come out as a couple, which Carter had suggested, they’d both have had to don scarlet letters for a while.
Quinn could have likely handled it, considering her tainted past. But it’s so not Carter. He’s a different breed; a man who’s always been well respected and aboveboard. He would likely have come to resent Quinn, and it wouldn’t have boded well for their relationship on The Bold and the Beautiful.
Quinn’s relationship with Eric (John McCook) obviously isn’t up to par with the passion she’s shared with Carter, yet it surpasses what she had with him on every other level. While Quinn may love Carter, Eric is the love of her life. He’s the man who legitimized her; the man who turned her life around and inspired her to become a better person. He offered her wealth, class, and respectability – things she never even dared dream about before. Theirs is a once-in-a-lifetime coupling bound by true love, and absolutely impossible to walk away from.
Having Quinn’s portrait back above the fireplace in Eric’s home on The Bold and the Beautiful and, more importantly, Quinn back under the Forrester roof stirs up more drama for the whole clan. Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) thought their family was finally free of the duplicitous Quinn. She was reveling in the fact that she’d brought her down, seemingly for good. Now, she’ll have to eat crow and admit defeat; swallow her pride, and find a way to live peacefully with Quinn again, for Eric’s sake.
Meanwhile, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) finds himself somewhere in the middle between his wife and his father. He sympathizes with Brooke’s loathing of Quinn, but he also acknowledges and understands Eric’s deep love for his wife. As such, he’s in the tough position of trying to support both of them.
The rest of the Forresters and Logans, save for Flo (Katrina Bowden), who’s engaged to Quinn’s son, Wyatt (Darin Brooks), side with Brooke. Yet, they’ll all have to bite their tongues and accept that Quinn is back in the picture – both as Eric’s wife and a force at Forrester Creations. It all creates a boatload of drama that never would have happened if Quinn had chosen Carter.
