The Bold and the Beautiful recaps for January 9 – January 13, 2023, featured a serious failure on the part of the judicial system.
Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) visits a jailed Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown). Sheila hints that she’ll soon be a free woman. A dubious Deacon thanks Sheila for keeping quiet about the assistance he offered her and swears that he’ll visit as often as possible…Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) gather at Forrester Creations. Their chit-chat is peppered with compliments for one another and praise for Bill Spencer’s (Don Diamont) heroism.
John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) debate their next move: testify against Sheila and risk Bill’s wrath or say nothing and risk Sheila being set free. To incentivize the couple, Bill threatens to not only send Taylor to jail for shooting him but to ensure that Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) suffers serious consequences for faking Finn’s death.
Brooke treats Taylor to lunch. The duo discusses their newfound kinship, their desire to remain untethered to Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), and their hope that Sheila never sees the light of day ever again…With Bill spying on the proceedings via a closed-circuit security camera setup, Finn and Steffy each refrain from testifying against Sheila — though Steffy does get several digs in at Sheila’s expense…Judge Craig McMullen (Joe Lando) declares Sheila free to go. Steffy and Finn are horrified by the turn of events.
Sheila bids county lockup — and a hopelessly-besotted Mike Guthrie (Ken Hanes) — goodbye…Taylor is aghast to learn that Sheila is on the outside and that her past actions are to blame…Sheila and Bill retire to his abode. Sheila thanks Bill for his intervention in her case and pledges to be his partner for life.
Steffy explains the bind that Bill put her and Finn in to an incredulous Taylor. Steffy further stuns her mother with the revelation that Bill claims to be in love with Sheila. Taylor resolves to turn herself into the police and confess to shooting Bill. Steffy does her utmost to convince Taylor otherwise.
Brook and Katie Logan (Heather Tom) play catchup. Talk turns to Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) and his interest in Katie. Carter interrupts the pair with the news about Sheila…Sheila bemoans the fact that she’s persona non grata as far as Steffy and Finn are concerned.
A horrified Brooke and Katie wonder how Sheila managed to invade justice… Taylor assures Steffy that she won’t cop to her crime. She does, however, make a beeline for Bill whom she rakes over the coals. A concerned Steffy follows her mother and both women are present when Bill declares his love and devotion to a pleased Sheila.
Katie and Carter unite and head for the Cliff House to get Steffy’s opinion on how Forrester Creations’ publicity team should react to Sheila’s escaping all charges. Finn lets slip that Katie has her ex-husband to thank for the whole ordeal.
