In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 11, 2023, Eric arrived at the hospital where doctors tried to save him. Meanwhile, Finn revealed the treatment he’s been working on that could possibly save Eric.
Bold and the Beautiful Recap Highlights
In addition, Donna, Brooke, Ridge, and Steffy feared for Eric at the hospital while the rest of the family worried for the Forrester patriarch back at the mansion.
The State of Eric’s Health
At the hospital, the medical team worked feverishly on Eric (John McCook). After Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) joined Donna (Jennifer Gareis), the attending doctor updated them on Eric’s condition. He said Eric was extremely critical.

Later, the three entered Eric’s room to support him. Donna cried that she’s not ready to lose him. She told him how much she needed him. Then, Brooke reminisced about the incredible bond the two of them created. And she pleaded with him to keep on fighting.
Ridge’s Superhero Dad Memories
In tears, Ridge reflected on a trip to Ireland the family took when he was a kid. Ridge wandered off, which drove Eric and Stephanie (Susan Flannery) crazy. He ended up falling down this weird hill and hit a boulder which knocked the air out of him. He yelled for his parents but they didn’t hear him. He laid there for a long time until it was dark and started raining.
Continuing to reflect by Eric’s bedside, Ridge remembered that this was the first time he ever felt true fear. But then, he heard something and closed his eyes and waited for the end. Instead, he heard Eric’s voice: “I got you, son.” That’s when Eric picked him up, wrapped him up in his coat, and Ridge wondered how he’d found him. This was the day his dad became his superhero.
He lamented the fact that Eric thought he wanted him out of Forrester Creations. He just wanted him to enjoy his retirement. He then told his dad they’ll be okay, he doesn’t have to fight anymore. That if he wanted to go, then go. It’s okay.
An Anxious and Emotional Family
Everybody else remained at the house, giving Eric and Donna their space. They continued to rehash the last moments before Eric collapsed with RJ (Joshua Hoffman) wondering if this party should have happened at all. (Find out our thoughts on Eric’s party.) Thorne (Winsor Harmon) cried over this possibly being Eric’s last night.
Meanwhile, Hope (Annika Noelle) asked Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) about breaking this news to Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri). Ultimately, he hoped there wasn’t going to be any big news to break at all. Regardless, Thomas said they’ll get through this crisis together. Bridget (Ashley Jones) tried to get everybody to calm down but, ultimately, she expressed how she wasn’t sure that there’s anything anyone can do for Eric.
Finn’s Radical but Potentially Game-Changing Treatment
Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) arrived at the hospital and almost immediately saw Finn (Tanner Novlan). She wanted to know if Eric was going to make it. Finn wished he could give her an answer, but he said he does have something he’s been working on, something that could help her grandfather. He told his wife he’s been working on a viable treatment.
When Ridge, Brooke, and Donna joined Steffy and Finn, he talked about his cutting edge, experimental treatment that has taken up all his time lately. He cautioned, however, that Eric’s condition is extremely grave, so there are no guarantees that it will work.
Once again, he reiterated that this treatment wasn’t a magic bullet. This was a huge risk should they choose to go this route. It involved a new technology that cleanses the blood combined with a transplant (of what? who knows). What they can expect for Eric is discomfort and a long recovery. He asked the family if this is something they wanted to do considering there’s no certainty of the outcome. However, it’s either this or they transfer Eric to comfort care and let him go. Ridge said he loved his dad so much. In fact, he loved Eric too much to put him through all of this potential pain and suffering. He said they need to let Eric die in peace — much to the shock of Steffy, Donna, and even Brooke.
