B&B spoilers recap for September 23, 2022, brings Ridge Forrester admitting he’s been selfish his whole life, and he even apologized to Steffy Forrester Finnegan and Taylor Hayes.
Another day, another time for Taylor (Krista Allen) to interrupt Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) kissing…because, clearly, Taylor can’t afford her own place. After some back and forth about how incredibly happy they were that Finn came back, Taylor confronted Steffy over not allowing Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) to speak with her father. Steffy was seriously not sorry at all, and she made yet another pitch to her mother to get back together with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye).
Then, Ridge walked in with two giant teddy bears. It’s just too bad the kids were out with the nanny. Steffy pushed her dad to stay and be a family, though, and insisted that she really needed her parents back together again. That’s when Ridge admitted he’d always been selfish, and that’s why they never got the chance to spend much time as a family. He wished that Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) was there too. He complimented Finn on being such a great father. Then, Ridge apologized, and Steffy told her dad he was great.

After Steffy and Finn left, Ridge and Taylor talked. He continued on his apology tour, and he pointed out how selfish and bad he’d been to Taylor. Ridge mentioned that the time for them to be a family — of five — was when Taylor came back all those years ago. Then he, Taylor, Thomas, Steffy, and Phoebe Forrester could’ve had their time together. Now it’s just too late, and Ridge has just been too selfish.
Taylor told Ridge that the past is a trail we leave behind. It doesn’t tell us where we’re going. It just tells us where we’ve been. Then she pointed out that she was open and ready to be loved right then, and they shared a meaningful, tearful look.
Thomas spent some time with Douglas Forrester (Django Ferri) at the Forrester mansion, and Brooke showed up. He was using a pocket knife to cut an apple for the little boy, and Brooke absolutely lost it when she spotted the sharp object. She asked Thomas to use something safer, but Thomas insisted he’d used knives to cut apples his entire life.
After Douglas left, Brooke took him to task for trying to keep Thomas away from Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle). Thomas took that as an opening to tell Brooke what a terrible stepmother and influence she’d been on him, and he wondered what his life would’ve been like if she hadn’t been the mother raising him. Then, he pointed out that nearly all of Brooke’s children left Los Angeles, and he said they left to get away from her.
Of course, Brooke wasn’t about to take all that without fighting back. She let Thomas know that he’d been way off the rails with lying about a baby being dead and kidnapping, and she didn’t even want to bring up the mannequin (but she obviously did). She pointed out she had good reason to be worried about Douglas being alone with him. Thomas didn’t care what Brooke thought, and then he held the knife out as he told her that her hold over his father would soon break because the Forresters were on the rise. Brooke seemed intensely focused on the knife Thomas had.
