In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for November 1, 2023, RJ’s revelation takes the wind out of a victorious Ridge’s sails.
In addition, all the excitement negatively impacted Eric’s health, and Katie and Luna resolved to be there for the Forrester men. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) was sure that she’d heard her son wrong. Then she was sure that he’d heard wrong. But the fact of the matter was that Eric (John McCook) was indeed dying. What’s more, he only has a few months to live at best.
That’s why he wanted to win the showdown so badly. That’s why he keeps referring to his collection and his “grand finale.” It all makes so much sense now.

RJ said that he was so, so sorry that he’d kept them all in the dark — he was only doing what Eric had asked of him. Brooke insisted that her son had done nothing wrong. Heck, she was even proud of him for keeping Eric’s confidence for so long. But the truth did need to come out. And Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), especially, needed to be told.
While RJ worried that his dad would hate him for not saying anything sooner, Ridge learned that he’d won the day. He beat his father on the runway, Eric’s own domain. Haza! This meant that his vision for Forrester Creations was the right one. The only one.
Enter Brooke and RJ. Despite being told they had more important things to discuss, Ridge couldn’t help but blurt that he’d won and RJ and Eric had lost. Can his son be happy for him? He’d totally have been happy for him if the designer shoe was on the other foot.
Yes, yes, huffed RJ, he was very happy for Ridge. But focus! “Granddad is dying.” The words hit Ridge like a ton of bricks. The explanation that followed hit him even harder. Why was it that his father, the man who had given him everything didn’t want him to know that he was dying?
Meanwhile, as an anxious Eric paced and coughed and complained to Donna (Jennifer Gareis) that he just had to win, Katie (Heather Tom) and Luna (Lisa Yamada) chatted. The former good-naturedly inquired about Luna’s seeming interest in RJ, then deduced that she was well aware of Eric’s illness.
Kaite observed that RJ was going to need Luna’s support more than ever before, then wistfully declared that she couldn’t imagine a world without Eric in it. His presence has always seemed like a given. It’ll be up to all of them to support Eric as his end nears. It won’t be easy, but he’ll know how much they love him.
Finally tired of pacing, Eric dragged Donna to the CEO office, his rightful office, and demanded to know if the final tally had been reached. Judging from their faces, he insisted that they must all know the results. Well, what did the buyers decide? Who was going to run the show from here on in?
