In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for August 22, 2023, Hope is sufficiently worn down enough to throw Thomas’s past misdeeds in his face.

In addition, Steffy asks Liam some very pointed questions, and RJ meddles like all meddling kids do. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
B&B Recap: You Must Remember This
At the she-shed that she calls home, Hope (Annika Noelle) admitted to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) that it seems like big, bad Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) led her astray, but that’s not the real reason she left Liam (Scott Clifton). Remember?
It was because Thomas loved her and only her, and that’s an assurance that Liam couldn’t provide her, what with his divided loyalty to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). And, sorry, not sorry, Hope didn’t want to live a life like Brooke did with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye).

Brooke could understand all that, really she could (and she gets that any and all criticism of Liam is justified), but she also floated the idea that, perhaps, Hope was looking to justify her behavior, to justify having an affair with Thomas in the first place.
Hope admitted that her mother might be on to something. She knew what she did with Thomas was wrong, but she did feel something for him…maybe. And maybe she was looking for excuses. And it wasn’t that she didn’t think that Thomas had changed, she really did, it’s just that when she looked in the mirror, she didn’t recognize herself anymore.
Brooke practically beamed and petted Hope on the head after that declaration, relieved as she was that her daughter was coming back to her old self. Hope then complained that they’d have to wait and see “if it’s too late.”

And speaking of, Hope made her way to Thomas’s place, which he was busy making more romantic with some lit black candles. Ooooh. Sexy!
Thomas could immediately tell that something was off and begged Hope to talk to him. He wasn’t exactly pleased to hear that Liam had reminded Hope of all the terrible things he’d done to her in the past, and he wondered aloud if Liam had got in her head and made her think about him differently.
Hope, for her part, admitted that all Liam had done was recall the truth. Thomas had kept Beth from her. Thomas did try to kidnap her. (And all the rest.) A dejected Thomas huffed that there was only one thing he could do now…and you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what that is!
The Bold and the Beautiful Recap: Qs But No As
Meanwhile, over at the Forrester mansion, a confused Steffy asked Liam a few questions: did he want Hope back? Was he willing to forgive her for kissing Thomas? Would he strive to keep his family intact? And if the answer to all the preceding was no, then what was the point of his attack on Thomas this time?
B&B Recap: Hardy Har Har
At Forrester Creations, Ridge, having stopped a potentially contentious convo between RJ (Joshua Hoffman) and Thomas — little brother is squarely team “Lope”, don’t ya know? — was starved for the birthday cupcake that RJ swiped him.
Brooke appeared to discuss a potential reunion between Hope and Liam and joined RJ in good-naturedly teasing Ridge about his lacking physique.
