The B&B recap for Wednesday, December 21, 2022, sees a simple act of kindness getting major side-eye.
In this episode, Katie Logan (Heather Tom) braves her annual checkup alone, but soon finds herself joined by the new man in her life. Elsewhere, Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) recaps events from the night before and dredges up events nearly a month old. Now, let’s take a deeper look into what went on.
It’s that time of year again, the time when Katie submits to a plethora of medical tests to make sure that her transplanted heart — and, we assume, her transplanted kidney — is still healthy and responding well to the anti-rejection medication. Even all these years later, there’s still a chance that something can go wrong, and poor Katie can’t help but feel that she’s living on borrowed time.

Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), for her part, does her best to bolster Katie’s spirits, but both become slightly melancholy when talk turns to the donor who died so that Katie might go on: elder brother Storm Logan.
Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) and Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) both rush into the Chief Executive Officer’s office at Forrester Creations in tizzies, wondering why it is they’ve been summoned by Steffy. Soon it all becomes clear — Steffy feels the urge to update them on Sheila Carter’s (Kimberlin Brown) latest flight from law enforcement.
Though he appreciates the heads-up, Carter doesn’t question why Steffy saw fit to include him and was heartened to hear that he’s considered one of the family — his involvement with that awful, awful Quinn Fuller notwithstanding.
Later, Steffy and Taylor take the time to rehash the wedding that very much wasn’t. Steffy is thrilled by Taylor’s self-first approach to life, and she’s delighted that her mother’s feelings of self-worth have come back tenfold, but she can’t help but wish, deep, deep down inside, that her parents had married. Perhaps Steffy made a boo-boo by outing Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) subterfuge? Perish the thought, exclaims Taylor.
Wondering where his ladylove has gotten to — and why she’s not returning any of his phone calls — Carter swings by Brooke’s office and inquires within. Upon being apprised of Katie’s predicament, Carter hightails it over to the hospital and joins her in solidarity.
Katie is more than touched. Dr. Grace Buckingham (Cassandra Creech), the attending who’s poured over Katie’s test results, isn’t. Turns out she’s still a little miffed over Carter’s dismissal of her baby girl for that awful, awful Quinn Fuller. Still, she’s a professional, and she’s got business to attend to.
