In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for October 31, 2023, Esther Valentine put a countess’s nose out of joint and made a besotted guard’s heart skip a beat.
In addition, RJ betrayed Eric’s confidence yet again, and the votes were tallied, and a winner was determined. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
With the showstoppers having dazzled the audience, it remained for Katie (Heather Tom) to issue thanks and remind the voters to get their cards handed in. Backstage, Eric (John McCook) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) agreed that it had been one Hell of a showing. May the best man win!
While Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) headed off to tabulate *ahem* make that tally the orders, Esther (Kate Linder) personally handed her card to Ridge. She’d finally done it. She found her dream dress.

Unfortunately for Esther, that was the same outfit that had struck Countess Von Frankfurt’s (Marie Osmond) fancy…and the Countess didn’t intend to wear a gown worn by a simpleton like Esther. Especially one that carries a feather duster in her handbag.
Before Esther could dissolve into a puddle of tears, Ridge assured her that it was first come, first served. The design was hers! The Countess blared that Ridge had just made a mistake. “A very big mistake!” What’s more, she’ll never again buy a Forrester original or shop at Fenmores. Harrumph!
Esther blubbered that she wished “Mrs. C” could see her now, and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) suggested that Katherine played a hand in the day’s goings on. Later, Esther crossed paths with Charlie (Dick Christie), who was pleased as punch with her success.
Esther cooed that she finally had a gown as beautiful as her former employer’s, and Charlie assured her that Esther would make the dress even more beautiful than it already was. Lauren called Esther away, prompting Charlie to pull her into a passionate clinch. Esther was appreciative…more than appreciative.
After corralling RJ (Joshua Hoffman) in the design office, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) heaped praise on him and then questioned the goings-on. What’s up with Eric? What are he, Donna (Jennifer Gareis), and Katie keeping secret?
RJ kept his composure for all of a minute before boohooing to Brooke that something was wrong, very wrong, and that he’d wanted to say something from the get-go, but Eric wouldn’t hear of it. The reason Eric has been so driven to compete with Ridge, the reason he keeps referring to his collection as his “grand finale,” is because he’s dying. “Granddad’s dying.”
Opposite Eric grousing to Donna that he just has to win and regain a leadership role at the company, Ridge took a phone call from the press and issued the following statement: Forrester Creations is a classic company with a cutting-edge future.
And while Ridge continued to preen, Carter revealed the buyers had spoken. One collection sold out, and one didn’t. Ridge was sure that he’d beaten his father, but he desperately needed to hear Carter say it. So Carter replied….PSYCHE! Tune in tomorrow for answers.
