In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for October 4, 2023, Eric’s already delicate condition took a severe turn for the worse.
In addition, Ridge worried his heart out over his dad’s out-of-character behavior, and RJ learned just a smidge about Luna. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Donna (Jennifer Gareis) and Eric (John McCook) welcomed Dr. Colby (Justin Davis) to the Forrester mansion, thanked him for his discretion, and bid him tell them what’s exactly happening to Eric — what’s wrong with him.
Unfortunately, Dr. Colby didn’t have the best news. They’d ruled out essential tremors and a few other possible diagnoses, but they’re still keeping their focus on cerebrovascular disease and TIAs. Also, Eric is going to have to submit to another battery of tests in the near future.

While Donna squawked beside him — turns out she’s not a fan of being kept in the dark in regard to just how dire her husband’s predicament might be — Eric shared with Dr. Colby that the tremors were getting worse. He couldn’t even grasp hold of a pen.
With that new information at his disposal (not to mention the sight of Eric’s shaky hand), Dr. Colby promised that he’d be in touch to schedule those tests and took his leave.
Donna, for her part, took Eric to task for not sharing either his or the doctor’s concerns with her before then set about begging Eric to reconsider apprising Ridge of the facts.
Eric outright refused to entertain the notion, and insisted that he planned to best his son in the upcoming competition — don’t call it “a game” Donna! — and made grandiose remarks about how he was going to take back control of Forrester Creations and rule the roost for years to come.
Minutes later, once Donna had left him on his lonesome, Eric was seized by a sudden coughing fit and wound up hacking a considerable pool of blood into his handkerchief.
Meanwhile, at FC, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) cooed over his latest design — and it was indeed a most impressive simple red dress.
Afterward, Ridge set about complaining once again about Eric and his actions. Despite being under the impression that he’s healthy and in great shape, Ridge still couldn’t help but wonder if there was something pushing his dad to create this line. And he’s determined to get to the bottom of it.
Across the hall, RJ (Joshua Hoffman) reiterated to Luna (Lisa Yamada) that if it was up to him and him alone, he’d cue Ridge in on Eric’s health struggle. Oh how he hates being caught in the middle of his dad and granddad.
Luna told RJ that she so admired his close relationship with his grandfather as she’d never had that with her own. That statement prompted RJ to beg her for “just one little juicy Luna story.” Despite herself, Luna shared that she was from Nothern California — The Bay Area to be precise — that her mother had her when she was very young, and they were both artistic spirits. RJ appreciated Luna sharing that with him, and Luna appreciated RJ’s appreciation.
