In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 13, 2023, Ridge continued to defend his decision to turn Eric’s life support off. A shocking thing happens as Finn starts to turn off Eric’s life support per Ridge’s orders.
In addition, RJ, Luna, and Poppy remembered Eric fondly. Steffy and Finn and even Brooke urged Ridge to let the experimental treatment happen. And the family said their goodbyes. Now let’s dig deeper into what happened.
Everybody continued to argue with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) over his decision to turn off his dad’s life support (guess who else is about to advocate for Eric?). Ridge heard Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) piece. However, he aggressively expressed how much he just wanted them to let him make his decision. He’s sorry but that was the way it was going to be.
Since he’s the medical professional in the room, Finn (Tanner Novlan) had to know if Ridge was sure about turning off Eric’s (John McCook) life support because time was working against them. If they want to do the treatment they need to do it now. Once again, Ridge said he’d made his decision and he’ll have to live with it for the rest of his life.
Meanwhile, Donna (Jennifer Gareis) went to Eric’s side where she tried to get through to Eric to let him hear her. She told him she was not ready to let him go, she never gave up on him before and she was not giving up on him now. But he has to do the same. All he needs to do is come back to her and to his family. Then, she kissed him on his forehead.
At Forrester Creations, Luna (Lisa Yamada) comforted RJ (Joshua Hoffman) when Luna’s mom Poppy (Romy Park) showed up with coffee and comforting words. RJ was able to reminisce about his grandad and Poppy loved hearing about the Forrester patriarch’s incredible life.

After Ridge said it was time to say their goodbyes, Donna bid farewell to her “Honey Bear.” Next, Steffy said she imagined he’d always be there for her kids. Said he helped her through life, steered her in the right direction. Steffy also told her grandad she knows he’ll always be watching over them.
Then, Brooke conveyed how much they all love Eric and that his leaving will create a huge hole in their lives. But they’ll do their best to fill the hole with laughter and love — love for him and love for each other. After all, Eric’s like the light from the sun and he made this world a better place.
Finally, Ridge said he was going to give his dad what he asked for (so he kept saying) but it was time for them to be strong for Eric. Ridge wanted him to go be with Stephanie (Susan Flannery) and Phoebe (Mackenzie Mauzy) and be at peace. He made sure to let Eric know it was okay to let go.
As Finn started to turn off Eric’s life support, the patient showed signs of life.
