Longtime enemies who try to drive one another mad for years on end are a traditional soap trope, but few soaps have as many continuous rivalries as The Bold and the Beautiful.
The more things change, the more they stay the same in this fictional version of Los Angeles with rivalries that have been going on for years and decades. Which one needs to finally come to a close as the year 2022 comes to a close?
A tiny 2% of you are confused about why Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) are even rivals at this point considering that in 2021 Liam was about to go to jail and wanted Thomas to look after his family. In fact, Thomas was even the one who rescued Liam from a life in prison.
Then, out of nowhere, they became rivals again in 2022 and Liam’s hate for Thomas didn’t even make sense and served as a plot device to help get Thomas to make horrible life decisions again. That’s why some of you really want to see this confusing rivalry end already. Perhaps it is time for Thomas to move on with his life.
Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) are sometimes enemies and sometimes friends while spending part of their lives being on-again/off-again stepsisters. Sometimes they get along, sometimes they are spitting nails at one another as they have fought over Liam and whether their mothers get to win the prize that is Ridge Forrester.
Just this past week they both needed referees for their arguing, and then decided to team up to make sure their mothers didn’t need their own referees. With them no longer having Liam or their parents to argue about, a full 20% of you want Hope and Steffy to leave this rivalry in the past.
Then, we have 23% of you who really do believe that B&B would be boring if it wasn’t for all these rivalry situations. It brings the drama and that’s what soaps are all about, right?
We can’t have anyone getting along famously at all times or there wouldn’t be any conflict and we’d feel like we are watching a sappy Hallmark movie. Let the rivalries stay.
Perhaps the powers that be knew what you were thinking because a majority 55% of you are ready for Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) to be BFFs. And it seems as if your wish might have come true just in time for Christmas.
For more than three decades, Brooke and Taylor have done almost nothing except fight over who gets to have Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), a man who missed both of them while he was away and was ready to tell one of them that they won him forever — for now.
But, Brooke and Taylor were done. They are mothers, they are grandmothers, and they are sick of the BS over one narcissistic man who thinks he is a prize to all women. So, they bought a cake to celebrate and washed that man right out of their hair while their bewildered daughters looked on and then breathed a sigh of relief. The end.
