Inspiring Former Child Soap Star Rachel Miner Returns To Acting Despite MS

The world knows of Rachel Miner because of her highly publicized two-year marriage to fellow child star Macaulay Culkin when they were teenagers. Sci-fi fans adored her as Meg Masters on the long-running show Supernatural. And soap fans loved her for her bittersweet portrayal of Michelle Bauer on Guiding Light and now the actress has news to share.

Rachel Miner Moves Forward

It has been over five years since she has acted despite having flourished on Broadway, television, and in films over her prolific career. In 2010, like Selma Blair, Miner was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and as her symptoms increased, it made it harder and harder for her to walk, so she pulled away from acting.

But the actress now reveals that’s changed. She’s ready to give it another go and tweeted that she’s not going to sit on the sidelines any longer and wants to return to acting — and her fans couldn’t be happier.

Back To Work
Anyone who follows Miner on Twitter knows that she has become an inspiration, sharing her feelings and always trying to give back with her association through Random Acts, where she serves as executive director. Now she will be inspiring in another way.

What do you think? Post a comment!

“Feels right to mark this moment, first audition in my wheelchair. Big thanks to all of you who’ve encouraged me to go back to this acting thing #RepresentationMatters” she wrote on Twitter.

Inspiring Others

She’s got that right — representation does matter and on that front, another actress in a wheelchair has proven there are no limits. This past year, Ali Stroker won the Tony Award for playing Ado Annie in the Broadway revival of Oklahoma — a role that hasn’t normally been played by someone with disabilities — and she killed it.

Fans will expect nothing less from Miner, who has brought honesty and authenticity to every role she’s taken on. Whether it’s as Margot, the sister to Natalie Portman’s Anne Frank on Broadway, to Lisa in the feature film Bully to dozens of guest-starring roles on primetime, Miner has always brought 100% to her performances.

While those will have a lasting mark in the memories of her fans, the words she’s shared on social media that inspire her followers to always be better have everyone around her rooting for her success — no matter what the challenge. Soap Hub and her other fans are looking forward to the next project we’ll be lucky enough to see her in.
