Soap vet Heather Tom has shown us she is ‘Everywoman’ during this time of quarantine with her various struggles those lucky enough to be healthy are all going through. The actress, who plays Katie on The Bold and the Beautiful, first showed us her struggles getting a pair of jeans on after weeks sitting at home. Now, she has tackled something else — her hair.
With hair salons closed in many states (including California where Tom lives) due to the close proximity between a hairdresser and their client when making beauty happen, women have had to resort to boxed hair dyes when covering those greys and Tom was kind enough to record the moment she decided to go it on her own, forgo a colorist, and feel better about herself by ridding her hair of those pesky “blonde” (her code word for grey) roots.
“I’m reminded so often I’m the brunette sister on the show,” Tom tells us in the video. “I don’t want to be blonde.”
She next takes a look at the two hair dye kits she bought and tries to decide which shade is right for her — medium golden brown or dark golden brown. “I don’t think I am golden anything right now,” she quips. “I ‘m just like dull, dull, and duller.”
Tom goes through the root touch up process, feeling her colorist will be screaming no when she watches the video and tries to decide how to make the entire bottle last. “I can’t see the back of my head, so I’m just going to assume there’s no grey back there.” (How many of us have done that? This writer is raising her hand, and also did this exact thing — sans regular colorist — about three weeks ago.)
In the end, Tom looks gorgeous with her signature mane of brown locks but makes it clear that she doesn’t think the colorists of LA have anything to worry about at the moment. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
