Daytime star John McCook’s has made quite the impact in the soap world. His role as Eric Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful” has spanned nearly 30-years, but he had a daytime career long before that.
Through all his ups and downs as the Forrester patriarch, he’s remained a show-stopping fan favorite. From marriages, deaths, attacks and kidnappings to working in high fashion, he’s everything you’d ever want in a B&B character.

The Early Years
McCook was born as John Thomas McCook on June 20, 1944, in Ventura, California. He later moved to Los Angeles where he still lives to this day.
Family Life
After two failed marriages, McCook married the love of his life, fellow actress Laurette Spang. The couple has three children, Rebecca, Molly, and Jake. John also fathered a son, Seth, with now-deceased actress Juliet Prowse.
His First Daytime Role
In 1976, McCook won a three-part role as Lance Prentiss on “The Young and the Restless.” While the part didn’t last long, he made quite the impact on the audience, and for future casting producers.
Becoming Eric Forrester
After an 11-year break from daytime, he snagged the role of Eric Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Fans almost instantly fell in love and are thrilled to still have him around. He’s one of only two original actors still on the soap.
Nominations
McCook received two Daytime Emmy nominations. The first was in 2001 and the second in 2012. Both nods were for Outstanding Lead Actor for his role on B&B.
