Two parent/child storylines took surprising turns Friday on “The Young and the Restless” – leaving bodies in their wake. The show spent the week building to the courtroom showdown between Victor and Adam. As for Sharon, her overwhelming guilt caused unreal tension between herself and Mariah. But, no one saw the twists in both stories that gave us our Friday cliffhanger.
Mother-Daughter Horror
Mariah (Camryn Grimes) has been doing her best to help Sharon (Sharon Case) keep it together. She suspected her mother might be off her meds, but she couldn’t be sure. It wasn’t long before Mariah realized Sharon was having a hallucinations, talking to “Sage”. By then it was too late as (Kelly Sullivan) goaded Sharon into hitting her–only it wasn’t Sage she hit with a heavy statue. Sharon was soon horrified to realize her own daughter laid on the floor with a bloody gash on her head.
Father-Son Feud
Meanwhile, at the courthouse, we saw a case of would he or wouldn’t he? Victor (Eric Braeden) planned to testify at his son’s trial and everyone was convinced his words would bury Adam (Justin Hartley). Instead, Victor offered up a new suspect – Ian (Ray Wise). Outside the courtroom, Ian managed to grab a gun from a cop, take Nikki hostage, and shoot Victor as he tried to stop him!

Friday Cliffhangers as Their Best
The stakes were high for everyone, but now they’re through the roof! Victor and Mariah could be dying. Nikki could be next. What about Adam? Was Victor’s testimony enough to set him free?
Sharon Case turned in another mesmerizing performance as Sharon’s guilt over Sully’s identity eats her alive. Camryn Grimes more than holds her own in the tough scenes. Also, the Action in the courtroom gave us a chance see so many of our favorite interacting. Next week the fireworks are sure to continue – no pun intended, as Monday is the 4th of July.
