Five Fast Facts About The Bold and the Beautiful Star Patrika Darbo

Patrika Darbo is known for starring as Shirley Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as Nancy Wesley on Days of Our Lives. While she’s been a soap star for many years, Darbo has been working as an actress in Hollywood for over 30 years in both television and movies.

Along with being busy on television, Darbo spends time with her husband and makes sure to really enjoy her life. From where she was born and raised to that time she played another celebrity in a movie, here are five fast facts about The Bold and the Beautiful actress.

In The Beginning 
Darbo was born on April 6 in Jacksonville, Florida. Her mother was a restaurant hostess and her father was a nightclub manager. However, her parents divorced when she was 6, so she grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. She ended up studying theater while attending Georgia Southern University, and she also attended the Atlanta School of Drama.

Barr None
Darbo moved to Los Angeles in the ’70s and began her professional acting career in the early ‘80s. She landed a few roles on various television shows, including a recurring arc on Step by Step. She also starred as Roseanne Barr in the 1994 television movie, Roseanne and Tom: Behind the Scenes.

The Meet Cute
After she moved to Los Angeles, she met her future husband, Rolf Darbo, while performing at the Burbank Little Theater. He was the stage manager, and she was in the chorus for the musical Anything Goes. They ended up getting married in 1973.

Primetime Emmy Winner
Darbo became the first person to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series in 2016 for her work on the series Acting Dead.

Wear Sunscreen 
Darbo recently revealed her skin cancer diagnosis to her social media followers. She shared earlier this month a photo of her nose following an appointment with her doctor to have cancer removed.

She revealed there was actually more cancer than they anticipated and urged her followers to remember to wear sunscreen! The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
