For all intents and purposes, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Dr. Finn is the perfect man. He’s tall, dark, and handsome, and has a medical degree. The guy’s every woman’s dream, or is he?
Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) flawless facade appeared to crack a little – he seemed uncomfortable and anxious when Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) mentioned meeting his mother and father before they exchange “I Do’s.” It’s obvious Finn’s got some serious parental drama. But what is The Bold and the Beautiful doc hiding?
As devoted fans know, the character’s parents have already been cast and are set to debut soon. Daytime vet Ted King, best known for his roles as Luis and Lorenzo Alcazar on General Hospital, will be playing Finn’s father, Jack.
Meanwhile, Naomi Matsuda, who briefly played Paul’s (Christopher Sean) mom, Tori Narita, on Days of our Lives, will be portraying his mother, Li. So viewers are on the brink of meeting and learning about Finn’s folks
The odds that they’re a picture-perfect, happily married duo are slim to none. Couples like that are few and far between on daytime. Jack and Li will be surfacing on B&B separately.
So does that mean they’re estranged or divorced? Could their relationship be toxic or volatile, and one Finn is ashamed for anyone to see; especially Steffy? It kind of ruins his depiction as the guy who has it all.
King is a powerful actor, who’s great at playing the heavy. He was a lethal mob boss on GH. Perhaps he could have shady connections, or a criminal past or present, on The Bold and the Beautiful, too.
Maybe Finn rebuffed his father’s business, determined to break away from the dangerous world he was raised in. Instead, he opted to study medicine and become a respectable doctor. It would explain why Finn’s been reticent to mention his dad, let alone arrange an introduction with Steffy.
Maybe it’s Finn’s mother who he’s trying to keep away from Steffy. Could she harbor a horrific secret or a twisted personality that would rival the Quinn (Rena Sofer) of old? Or maybe the woman suffers from a mental illness that Finn’s uncomfortable discussing or sharing with anyone; something that he and his dad have dealt with privately for years and managed to keep under wraps.
Perhaps Li could actually pose a threat to anyone in her son’s life. No matter what turns the story takes, one thing’s for sure. The good doctor, who always seemed too good to be true, is going to be exposed. At the very least, he has a strained relationship with one or both of his parents. At the very worst, he has some serious baggage that could blow up his dream of a perfect future with Steffy.
