Delon de Metz is set to debut as Zende Forrester Dominguez this week on The Bold and the Beautiful. The actor says that BB is his first daytime soap opera — but not his first CBS series!
Getting To Know Delon de Metz
“It was pretty wild,” de Metz tells Soap Hub as to how his joining BB came to be. “I was sitting at home [earlier this year] like most actors in Los Angeles wondering what the fate of the industry would be during COVID.” The performer, a native of Manhattan, NY, and educated at Harvard University, says a surprise phone call from his representative changed everything!
“My agent said he had something for me at BB,” Delon de Metz says. He was curious as to how any show would be getting back into production give COVID-19. “He said, ‘They’ve figured it out!.'” The latest BB cast member says that he underwent a three-part process to land the role, previously played by Daytime Emmy-winner Rome Flynn.
“I couldn’t get anyone to come over and self-tape with me because of COVID, but I did the audition scene on FaceTime and then used my phone to videotape the scene,” he says. The actor, who was on the CBS summer series Zoo as Sam Parker in 2017, enlisted the aid of pal and former Zoo co-star Gracie Dzienny (Clementine) to read the scene with him. Next came a second round that included meeting The Bold and the Beautiful casting director.
“Then, I had a chemistry read with Kiara [Barnes, Zoe] and I think that went very well,” he says, adding with a chuckle, “Apparently, well enough to book the job!”
Delon de Metz has nothing but praise for the safety protocols the show employs, which include folks sanitizing their hands before they enter the studio and actors wearing masks until it’s time to tape scenes. “The industry is looking to BB to learn how to navigate the pandemic,” de Metz says.
Viewers are going to have to tune in to see what brings Zende back to town. The character last appeared in 2017. He and wife Nicole (Reign Edwards) left Los Angeles so that Zende could take on a professional opportunity in Paris at Forrester International. What new adventures await Zende upon his return? Don’t miss his debut on Wednesday, October 7 to find out! The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
