Hope Logan’s feelings for Thomas Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful up to this point have been characterized as tawdry and a bit self-serving. Hope appears to be caught up in lust and using Thomas as a buffer to avoid the pain of her divorce from Liam, all the while knowing that Thomas is completely besotted with her. Now faced with another personal crisis — the possible death of Eric Forrester — are Hope’s feelings starting to shift toward love?
Hope Logan Has Desire
Eric’s (John McCook) farewell party served as the debut for Hope (Annika Noelle) and Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) as a legitimate couple. Before, we only saw them fooling around inappropriately in the office at Forrester Creations or sneaking away to be in private in her home. All glammed up and out in public, Hope and Thomas made a nice couple — and actually looked respectable. (See more about Eric’s “departy” here.)
A Hint of Love?
The pair seemed to be genuinely connecting at the event, sharing their sorrow and concern for Eric. As they danced together, Eric told them not to be discouraged by family disapproval: if they make each other happy, that is all that matters. As Hope and Thomas received the blessing of the beloved Forrester patriarch, their oversexed relationship certainly took on a new sense of legitimacy.
Later, as the guests grappled with Eric’s impending fate, Hope and Thomas as a couple discussed how to break the news to Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri) of what would be his grandfather’s looming death. In moments like these, we see what looks like a couple devoted to each other and to their son. It sure would make a nicer life for everyone involved if Hope did fall in love with Thomas. Remember when Douglas cooked them dinner at home for date night? What a sweet family they made.
Hope for More
Of course, asking us to get on board with this new relationship is asking a lot — namely, to forget Thomas’s shockingly bad past behavior. But, isn’t the redemption of a bad boy one of the pillars of daytime soaps? Furthermore, how long can we watch former good girl Hope acting so out of character? It seems hard to believe that this once grounded, sensitive woman is going to continue to use Thomas just for fun. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments section below.
