Will B&B’s Ridge Forrester Suffer Repercussions Over Eric?

Published by

Ridge Forrester was in a lose/maybe-win situation on Bold and the Beautiful regarding his father’s care. Eric was hovering between life and death. Ridge, the legal decision-maker, was left to decide what should be done. He made the right call. Maybe.

Ridge Forrester: Decisions, Decisions

Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) had two choices as Eric (John McCook) was dying. He could have signed off on Finn and Bridget taking measures to try to save his life or let his dad die with dignity. Nobody seemed to want to let Eric go but Ridge was the one who had final say. After Eric showed signs of coming out of his coma, Ridge let Finn and Bridget do their thing. But if it didn’t work, Eric was going to suffer even more — at least that’s how Ridge felt.

Being Alive

So, let’s say Eric lives — only he remains in a coma and has no quality of life. Ridge is going to have to live with the decision he made. It’ll only be natural for Ridge to think he did the wrong thing if Eric doesn’t come out of his coma. Instead of people thinking of Eric in his prime, they’ll have to live who knows how long with Eric being in a coma. Ridge will be mad at himself for giving into family pressure.

Ridge Forrester: Doing His Best

In time, Ridge will realize he has nothing to feel guilty about over his decision to do what’s best. There really are no right or wrong answers when it comes to emotions. If Eric doesn’t come out of his coma, that doesn’t mean he won’t come out of it someday, right? And if Eric dies after this procedure, well, at least Ridge can say to himself that he tried to save his father.

No-Fault Insurance

Ridge won’t face any repercussions because he’s never wrong. This is a man who vacillated between two women — Taylor (Krista Allen) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) — for decades. Prior to Taylor coming into his life, Ridge went back and forth between Brooke and Caroline (Joanna Johnson).

Ridge was never wrong to keep both women on the hook, professing his love for one only to then turn around and proclaim his devotion to the other, sometimes the very next day. Ridge will simply tell his dad he did his best. If people are mad at him, he’ll live with it.
