There’s an Elton John song titled “Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word.” Well, not for Thomas Forrester on Bold and the Beautiful. The Forrester heir knows easily how to apologize for his past actions. But that’s not changing what he did.
Thomas keeps telling people he’s sorry for lying about Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) calling Child Protective Services (CPS). He’s sorry Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) dumped her, and he’s sorry that when the truth came out that his mother, Taylor (Krista Allen), got dumped at the altar.
There’s an old saying that it’s easier to beg for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. That seems to be Thomas’s “go-to” plan as he does what he wants and then expects folks to forgive him. That’s not really working out too well, however.
Thomas’s latest machinations got him ousted from Forrester Creations. Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri) chose which parent he wanted to live with, and Thomas wasn’t even in the top two as he opted to live with Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood).
Thomas is one sorry guy. He’s sorry he didn’t come forward about knowing baby Beth was alive a few years ago. He’s sorry he lied about Brooke. Most of all, Thomas is sorry he got caught. His pleas for his job back and to see his son whenever he wants are falling on deaf ears with Steffy and Hope (Annika Noelle).
Instead of using his words, Thomas should start taking action to get people to forgive him. For starters, he needs to back off. Thomas can let Eric (John McCook) and Zende (Delon de Metz) continue with Hope for the Future designs. He can’t be the only good designer Forrester has had. The company was around for quite a while before he picked up a pen and sketchpad.
Next, Thomas can back off when it comes to Douglas. He needs to realize he can’t keep coming over to Steffy’s and demanding to see his son whenever he wants. If Thomas wants people to think he’s changed, he can agree to supervised visits and let others hear him, not coerce Douglas into living with him.
Thomas should find a job and a place to live. He’s not under the watchful eye of the courts, but he should live his life in a way that should Douglas choose to live with him in the future, he’ll be ready to accept his son back into his life.
Thomas has good looks, charm to spare, and is quite convincing when he wants to make an argument. However, if he wants folks to believe he’s changed, he’s got to show that he’s sorry and show that he’s capable of change. Otherwise, he’s just singing the same old tune.
