Does anyone really believe that the terminally ill Eric Forrester is going to die on The Bold and the Beautiful? Is the soap actually planning to follow through with the demise of its patriarch and part ways with its longest-running male lead? Impossible. That’s why this long overdue plot to save the character needs to get underway.
From the get-go, it should have been all hands on deck to try and save Eric (John McCook). While his current specialist may be a nice guy and a good doctor, he’s not cutting it. It’s hard to believe that the Forrester clan would have simply entrusted Eric’s fate to a single specialist and taken his diagnosis as a be-all and end-all. A family with their mega millions surely would have sought out a world-renowned team.
Also, there are already two doctors on the B&B canvas: Finn (Tanner Novlan) and his mother, Li (Naomi Matsuda). Shouldn’t they have been brought into the mix immediately? It would have made the story richer to have a pair of medical pros who actually know Eric fight to save him.
An even more glaring omission has been keeping Eric’s own daughter, Bridget (Ashley Jones), a respected physician, totally in the dark (she is expected soon though, find out more here). Surely, someone should have thought about filling her in on her father’s dire diagnosis. At the very least, she could have offered an opinion or resource that might have helped her dear old dad.
Yet, none of the above happened. Upon learning about Eric’s illness, Donna (Jennifer Gareis), RJ (Joshua Hoffman), and Katie (Heather Tom) all kept mum. They are bound by Eric’s insistence that they keep the information a secret so they stand by and support him silently.
Since Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), and their children learned the devastating truth, they’ve all done the same – absolutely nothing to help Eric. Nobody’s made a phone call, called in a favor, or sought out a specialist. Nobody’s put the Forrester name and their mega millions to work to try and save Eric.
With Bridget arriving in town soon, and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) having confided in Finn about her grandfather’s condition, hopefully, things are about to change. Perhaps, Bridget and Finn, with an assist from Li, can collaborate and find a cure to save Eric.
Complying with Eric’s wishes for secrecy about his grave diagnosis is one thing, but doing absolutely nothing to help him is another. Don’t Donna, Ridge, or any of the others think that Eric would forgive them for spilling the beans and going behind his back to seek out help if he actually lived? There’s no doubt he most definitely would.
