After watching what seemed like endless flashbacks of Sheila steaming off a label from a bottle of alcohol on The Bold and the Beautiful, viewers were reminded that the naughty nurse is capable of doing so much more! She committed murder again by shooting her own son, Finn, and also pumped lead into Steffy!
B&B has seen a jump in the ratings by throwing the lives of the Forresters and the Finnegans into turmoil. Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) has lost her son and has battled Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) verbally at the hospital, refusing to let Finn’s biological mom even view his body. (Hmm…) Sheila – as much as we loathe what she’s done – was in so much pain she tried to end her life and, in trying to save her, Taylor nearly lost her own life. The stakes have been raised on B&B and viewers can’t get enough of it!
We applaud the show for upping the ante with these latest twists and developments but we also wonder how this ever could have happened in the first place. Sheila has proved time and time again that she can’t be trusted and there are consequences that come from interacting with her on any level.
Sure, there’s an argument to be made for keeping your friends close and your enemies closer but Taylor chose to let Sheila – the woman who shot her – spend Christmas Eve with her family including their mutual grandson, Hayes. The first meeting between Sheila and Taylor since the shooting should have been more dramatic. Taylor’s forgiving but she’s not foolish.
After Sheila first returned to The Bold and the Beautiful, the Forresters wisely asked Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor), the company COO and attorney, to draw up a restraining order against Sheila. What judge would turn that down given Ms. Carter’s past actions?
Let’s review: She shot Taylor. She shot Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang). She shot Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery). Those are just the crimes she’s committed with a gun. Her other criminal acts include (but are not limited to): kidnapping Lauren Fenmore’s (Tracey Bregman) son Scotty, blackmailing Lauren and the late Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) over their affair, and spiking alcoholic Macy Alexander’s (Bobbie Eakes) drink.
Sheila also attempted to drown Lauren, held the Forresters at gunpoint (Sheila loves holding a pistol!), poisoned Stephanie, threatened an infant Thomas Forrester (!), killed Lance (Adam Huss) with killer bees, and kidnapped Ridge Forrester.
Ironically, the one person who refused to ever let up on Sheila was Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), who would often remind viewers and those around her that Sheila shot her mother. That robbed Taylor of her family for years. From the minute Sheila showed up at Finn and Steffy’s wedding reception to Sheila’s confrontation with the newlyweds in the alley behind Il Giordano, Steffy was relentless in condemning Sheila and remained on guard around her.
And, it turns out, The Bold and the Beautiful heroine had good reason to be wary. Steffy’s loved ones let her down by allowing Sheila back into their lives. Sure, they were all (kind of) on their toes around her but, in retrospect, they weren’t cautious enough. And now Steffy and Finn have paid the price.
Of course, it’s all made for great drama. Kudos to Kimberlin Brown for making us actually feel for Sheila. Viewers are on the edge of their seats wondering what Steffy’s going to remember and what Sheila’s next move is going to be. Perhaps in the future, the Forresters will be more conscious of Sheila before someone else, you know, dies.
