Soap Hub Performer of the Week for B&B: Ted King

 Comments

The Bold and the Beautiful’s goal was to cast both a good-looking actor and a powerful one for the part of Jack Finnegan as he’d be revealed to be the biological dad to Tanner Novlan’s chiseled Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan and go up against dynamo Kimberlin Brown who plays Sheila Carter. The show struck gold with soap veteran Ted King. For King’s performance as a caring and strong father with a shady past, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors for B&B on King.

Ted King – Performer of the Week

Jack (Ted King) showed up at Sheila’s residence to inform her in no uncertain terms that she was never going to be a part of Finn’s or Hayes’s life. He strongly suggested she leave town but trying to convince Sheila something she doesn’t want to do is like getting blood from a stone.

Sheila threw back in Jack’s face that many years ago he couldn’t get enough of her and she’s kept a secret for many years – that he’s Finn’s biological son. This doesn’t come as a total shock given the subtle looks Jack was shooting Sheila at Finn and Steffy Forrester Finnegan’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) wedding reception.

Clearly, Sheila feels she’s holding some cards given the secrets that she has about Jack. She knows that Li (Naomi Matsuda) and Finn would be shocked to learn Jack had fathered a child with another woman. This isn’t the first time the naughty nurse has found a way to get the upper hand. However, Jack’s not about to let her walk all over him or threaten his family. Sheila tends to live in a fantasy world. She told Jack that he needs to remember that she’s Finn’s mother. “There’s something you need to remember, too,” Jack shot back. “If there isn’t already a restraining order with your name on it, there will be after tonight.”

For a murdering, poisoning, conniving, sociopath, Sheila’s quite good at turning the tables on people. The more she set herself up as the injured party, the more agitated Jack became. Jack got in Sheila’s face, reminding her that she made a deal that if she saw Finn and held Hayes then she’d leave. Jack ordered Sheila to never tell Finn how he was conceived or tell Li about their affair.

“You will take our little secret to the grave, Sheila. Do you hear me? To the grave.” Sheila’s already executing other plans to worm her way into Finn’s and Hayes’ lives. However, we suspect after seeing King’s strong performances that she’s not going to find that to be an easy task. Jack Finnegan appears to be a man who’ll do anything to keep his family safe. Bravo to King for so seamlessly fitting into the B&B story canvas as someone who’s got Sheila’s number!
