The last time Dr. Li Finnegan, played by Naomi Matsuda, and nurse Sheila Carter went up against each other on Bold and the Beautiful, Li almost perished in a fiery car crash. This time, Li had the upper hand (or so it seemed!) For her portrayal as a fiercely protective mama bear, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors for B&B on Matsuda.
No one could blame Li for going to visit Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) in lockup at the local jail given their last encounter. Li nearly lost her life as Sheila gloated! This time, it was Li’s turn to lord her freedom over Sheila whom Li believes is going away for a long, long time. Sheila was her trademark sinister self, which may have enticed Li to stick around so she could figure out what Sheila was up to and why she appeared so confident.
“You may think you’re getting out of here, Sheila. But that’s not happening,” Li firmly informed Sheila, adding that Dr. John ‘Finn’ Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) was her son (not Sheila’s) and she was the one who saved his life after Sheila shot him last year.
Matsuda brought the kind of passionate intensity seen at victim impact statements after a guilty verdict is announced. “I believe In right and wrong, I believe people like Finn and Hayes deserve a happy and free life,” the good doctor stated. “And people like you get what’s coming to them.”
Brown shot back in her calm, eerie trademark tone that she would indeed be getting what was coming to her. Li got under Sheila’s skin as she kept driving her point home that this was going to be the last of Sheila. “Guard, I’m done here,” Li said after firing off some final remarks to Sheila about how she felt things are going to play out. Time will tell if Li’s vision comes true or if Sheila once again manages to cheat the law.
Sheila said that she and Finn and Hayes would all be together again soon. If this rattled Li, Matsuda refused to let Sheila see her sweat. Instead, she continued to lock eyes with her nemesis, who maniacally chuckled as Li made her exit. Of course, this story is far from over. Li may soon discover that Sheila has a surprising supporter in Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), which would be quite ironic as Bill saved Li from Sheila’s last attack.
