Soap Hub Performer of the Week for B&B: Jennifer Gareis

The Bold and the Beautiful is thrusting the criminally underused Jennifer Gareis into the spotlight now that we know Eric Forrester is cheating on Quinn Fuller Forrester with his ex-wife Donna Logan. For knocking our socks off in an unexpected plot twist, Soap Hub is bestowing Performer of the Week honors on Gareis, who plays Donna.

Middle sisters can always fall through the cracks on TV shows. Just ask The Brady Bunch’s Jan Brady. Since Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) is B&B’s Queen and Katie Logan has delivered dramatic goods that have earned her portrayer, Heather Tom, four Daytime Emmys, it’s easy for Jennifer Gareis’s Donna to get overlooked. Fortunately, the powers that be at B&B see the value Gareis brings to the show.

Last year’s Quinn Fuller Forrester (Rena Sofer) and Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) affair was a B&B shocker and it ended when Eric Forrester (John McCook) decided to forgive Quinn for her infidelity. Surprisingly, B&B revealed that Eric is now the one stepping out on Quinn by reuniting with his ex-wife, Donna (Jennifer Gareis).

This shocking twist is going to allow, we’re guessing, Quinn and Carter to pick up again. But the only way this works is if Jennifer Gareis and John McCook sell their renewed romance. And, boy, do they sell it! We know that Gareis is capable of delivering the goods. She went head to head against the late Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) during her first romance with Eric. There’s already rooting value for Eric and Donna. Watching the two share pillow talk that was sexy, flirtatious, and an honest reminder that Donna’s love for Eric has never subsided.

“You are — and always will be — the great love of my life,” Donna told Eric. We can’t wait for this unlikely but also logical affair to come to light. It will not only give Quinn and Carter ‘permission’ to re-think their relationship but we expect dynamic fireworks all around.

Honorable Mention: John McCook’s Eric may be sleeping with Donna (Jennifer Gareis) but he’s very convincing when he says he still cares for Quinn, his wife. We’re betting that he simply can’t get past Quinn’s affair with Carter but time will tell if that’s what prompted Eric and Donna to get horizontal. So, while Eric truly does love two women he’s only capable of giving himself fully to one of them.
