Soap Hub Performer Of The Week For B&B: Henry Joseph Samiri

Allowing Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) to choose which parent he wanted to live with may not have been the wisest call Hope and Thomas ever made on The Bold and the Beautiful. However, it sure was a great move by the show’s writers. Now, the stage has been set for great drama to play out. It also helped make our decision on who would get Performer of the Week for B&B honors an easy one. Samiri takes the prize!

Henry Joseph Samiri – Performer of the Week

As fans of the young actor may know, Samiri is doing double duty appearing on both B&B as Douglas and on Freeform’s The Watchful Eye as Jasper. “There’s child actors and then, there’s Henry,” Emily Fox, executive producer, The Watchful Eye said in January. “He is extraordinary and has an incredible depth and maturity.”

That’s exactly what Samiri brings to his role as Douglas. Unlike grown-up characters on B&B (Thomas, Sheila, Deacon, for example), Douglas wasn’t motivated by personal interest or insecurity when he decided to let his aunt Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) have custody of him. Rather, Douglas didn’t want to hurt either of his parents so he made a choice that he hoped would spare them pain.

Steffy couldn’t say no Douglas when he approached her in the judge’s chambers and asked his favorite aunt if he could live with her. She agreed (after talking it over with her husband Finn) and Douglas packed up his belongings and set out to move into the Cliff House.

Henry Joseph Samiri never lets viewers forget he’s still a kid despite the adult storylines he’s been thrust into since making his B&B debut. He showed daytime audiences what he was capable of in the baby Beth is alive storyline that brought B&B not only a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series in 2020 but also helped the show place first in the coveted Women 18-49 demographic in the summer of 2019.

“Don’t let mommy be sad,” Douglas whispered to stepdad Liam (Scott Clifton), who assured the little boy that he had this covered. While Douglas is wise beyond his years, he may not have totally thought out his plan. Time will tell how he feels about living away from Hope and, for that matter, his father.

In the meantime, he’s going to continue to be a little boy, one who is acclimating to his new home that happens to have a great view of the Pacific Ocean. Douglas will be on the lookout for pirates with the help of his uncle Finn (Tanner Novlan) as he continues to try to spare those who love him the most any pain.
