Soap Hub Performer Of The Week For B&B: Henry Joseph Samiri

We’ve missed Henry Joseph Samiri and his adorable portrayal of Douglas Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful. No matter how many grown-up situations the character finds himself in, Samiri never lets us forget that Douglas is still a kid. For his performance as the object in a custody tug of war, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week for B&B honors upon Samiri.

Henry Joseph Samiri – Performer of the Week

Like many children, Douglas Forrester is a sponge in that he picks up all sorts of things — like becoming an expert chess player thanks to great-grandfather Eric Forrester’s (John McCook) girlfriend Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis), who is also Douglas’s great aunt.

Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) tried to gently broach the subject of Douglas leaving the Forrester mansion and returning home to live with him and Hope Spencer Logan (Annika Noelle) and Beth. “I love it here. This is where I want to be,” Douglas informed Liam unsure if his words would carry any weight in the manner. “What I really want is to be with both of my parents — my mom and my real dad.” Douglas didn’t mean to hurt stepdad Liam with that remark but the simple words he spoke had to have had an impact on him.

Douglas patiently listened as Liam recounted many of the fun times they shared together involving making Halloween costumes and science projects, but ultimately, Douglas wasn’t going to be swayed by his words. In the capable hands of Henry Joseph Samiri, Douglas is perhaps soaps’ most polite young player. We see him absorbing what’s going on around him and waiting patiently to speak what’s on his mind. “You’re really cool, Uncle Liam, but so is my dad [Thomas Forrester, played by Matthew Atkinson],” Douglas gently told the man who’s married to his mother. “I like hanging out with him and my mom. They’re my family. My real family.”

Later, at Forrester Creations, Douglas was overjoyed when Hope didn’t object to his continuing to live with his father. Samiri never plays Douglas as manipulative (unlike his dad who used an app that alters voices to re-pair his parents) but rather as a young boy who simply states what he wants in a way that makes it difficult for anyone to say no. Soaps are filled with overly precocious children but Samiri brings a charming honesty to his role as Douglas Forrester.
