If there is anyone on The Bold and the Beautiful who should know just how unhinged Sheila Carter is, it should be Deacon Sharpe. After all, he’s been closer to her than anyone of late (although Taylor Hayes might not want to think that) and he knows the things she is still capable of. And, so does everyone else, but the willful ignorance keeps getting more exasperating by the day.
Deacon (Sean Kanan) may have teamed up with Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), but she didn’t understand how he was growing closer to Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) by just being himself and she had to resort to schemes to get close to her adult son, Finn. Why couldn’t just being herself work for Sheila?
Perhaps because she’s been raining terror down on both Genoa City and Los Angeles for three decades, so people are a little gunshy where Sheila is concerned, so to speak. But it was Deacon who knew she was capable of just about anything, so why not this?
Yes, it seems unreal that Sheila would shoot her own son, but of course, she would shoot Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). She’d have no qualms doing that and has promised that Steffy would pay for keeping her away from her son and grandson. Why would it not occur to him that Steffy was the intended target and John ‘Finn’ Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) just got caught in the crossfire? It’s logical and it makes more sense than Deacon and everyone else who is in shock asking who would shoot their precious Steffy.
Deacon is not the only man in town who knew that Sheila was still planning and plotting and had not turned over a new leaf at all. Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) was well aware that Sheila is the one who switched the labels on champagne and sparkling cider so that Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) would drink on New Year’s Eve because Sheila was so proud of her accomplishment that she gloated about it and then threatened him if he were to tell the truth. It doesn’t occur to him that Steffy might know what was going on considering she knew he’d been acting strangely for a few weeks.
Instead, everyone thinks this was a random mugging and shooting because Sheila made it look that way. Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen), a mental health professional, is even giving the woman hugs — cause she just wants a friend, right? But this should not be hard, especially for the people who knew what Sheila was really up to. You have an unhinged woman who killed her own mother, she was still scheming to get what she wanted, she hated Steffy with a passion, and now Finn is dead and Steffy is comatose. Putting two and two together and getting Sheila Carter really shouldn’t be this hard, but unfortunately, on The Bold and the Beautiful, it apparently is.
