Is Bold and the Beautiful’s Kinder Gentler Sheila Carter Sustainable?

Published by

For the first time in her wretched life, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Sheila Carter is madly deeply in love and behaving like an amiable law-abiding citizen. Heck, Li pushing her face into a bowl of pasta bolognese and Steffy punching her in the jaw didn’t even evoke a reaction. But, is this kinder gentler version of the character sustainable?

Sheila Carter: Blinded By Love

At the moment, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) is living on love and loving life. Deacon (Sean Kanan) is totally devoted to her and vice versa. They’ve set up a happy little home in his tiny apartment. They’re even secretly engaged and biding their time before revealing the news to their families, considering not one person wished them well when they went public as a couple. The reality is that no one likely ever will. They’ll just confront Deacon with another chorus of, “Have you lost your mind getting involved with this sociopath?”

Misguided Hope

Sure, right now Sheila’s filled with hope and a small dose of optimism. It’s what’s driving her to stay on the straight-and-narrow and encouraging her to be a better person. Deacon keeps insisting that their families will come around. He is especially optimistic about his daughter, Hope (Annika Noelle). She is one of the most forgiving people on the planet. But, is he making a mistake by dissuading Sheila from facing the facts? Is he doing her an injustice by making her think her reprehensible crimes will ever be forgiven or forgotten?

The Cold Hard Truth

Think about it. What’s going to become of Sheila when she realizes that she’s never going to be embraced by Finn (Tanner Novlin), accepted by Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), or welcomed into their family and get to be a grandmother to young Hayes? That, in fact, no matter how hard she tries or what she does, she’ll always be viewed as a pariah by the Forresters, Logans, and the rest of their L.A. cohorts.

Sheila’s disappointment and frustration could rapidly shift to anger and cause her to snap. And, when Sheila snaps, the consequences are always deadly. The kinder gentler woman she’s been trying so hard to be would vanish in the heartbeat. When she does, there will be hell to pay for everyone.
