There’s been a lot of talk about eras lately, thanks to Taylor Swift. Well, the closest thing daytime has to someone entering a new defining era may be The Bold and the Beautiful’s Liam Spencer. He’s thisclose to making the leap into villain territory. And, boy, do we approve if this is where the show is taking him.
Liam Spencer: Getting a Villain Edit
Liam (Scott Clifton) is currently getting a villain edit, don’t you think? While Hope (Annika Noelle) was in the wrong for kissing Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) in Rome, Liam hasn’t acted very devastated over the end of his marriage. Sure, he doesn’t know that it’s turned into much more for Hope and Thomas, but would he actually be upset to learn that they’re a thing at this point? Since that kiss, he’s clearly moved on to wanting Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) back.
Liam’s made a nuisance of himself, which is why Finn (Tanner Novlan) called him “little puke” and “scumbag.” His behavior feels darker and more weaselly by the day. One of his recent misdeeds involved videotaping the dashing doctor’s hug with his bio mom, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown). Of course, he tried to score points with Steffy when he ran to her all about it. Seeing the video on Liam’s cell phone caused concern and damage to Steffy’s marriage. She left town with the kids immediately.
Liam and the Malicious Voicemail
When Liam learned Finn hadn’t told his wife about Deacon (Sean Kanan) and Sheila’s relationship, he took it upon himself to reveal the bad news to his ex. Because he’s the only one who can protect Steffy, right? The scene was appropriately sketchy. Before he made the call, his eyes darted around to see if there was anyone in listening distance. With that taken care of, he called her, and when she didn’t answer, he left a message that crossed many lines:
“So…Sheila and Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) are…a thing. They are romantically involved. Finn knows about it and he’s keeping it from you. I don’t know what else to tell you. The guy has been blowing it from day one and I think we both know why. Because he’s Sheila’s son. He’s never going to keep you and your family safe. He’s never going to keep you safe the way that… I would. You know I want more than anything for you to come home. But don’t come home to him. Come home to me.“
The character could use a reset, and this is the perfect time to do it. After all, Steffy and the kids are gone, and she’s not happy with the way Finn’s handling the Sheila situation. Plus, Wyatt is no longer going to be there to act as a talk-to or someone who can play devil’s advocate when faced with Liam’s devilish behavior. And Sheila will always be an obstacle to Finn and Steffy’s happiness.
Honestly, it’ll be entertaining to see Liam up to no good. All the show needs to do is to continue taking him down this dark path and treat him like a villain. This is something we hope they do now that Steffy’s return is imminent.
