A Critic’s Review of Bold and the Beautiful: Wedding Highs and Lows

The author’s opinions on B&B are hers and hers alone. Just know this: everything’s based on pure emotion, be it right or totally off.

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion — and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between. Here, we lead with optimism. Unfortunately, we don’t always get what we want. So here’s a review of B&B’s week that was, which focused on Donna and Eric’s sudden nuptials.

What’s I’m Feeling This Week:
In Denial (Honeybears and Happy Mints)

Donna (Jennifer Gareis) and Eric’s wedding was a nice lead-up to Valentine’s Day. Eric (John McCook) threw yet another grand soiree. However, this time, he had another kicker planned and it didn’t involve an ambulance ride to the hospital.

Instead, he made sure Donna wore the perfect dress. He got down on one knee, and in front of several family members (not all of them), he asked her to marry him…again. And with Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) officiating (let’s not forget that Carter once had an affair with Eric’s wife but he is B&B’s resident go-to officiator), the two were married in front of the Logan contingent, plus Luna (Lisa Yamada) and Zende (Delon de Metz) and others.

My issues with this impromptu wedding mainly have to do with attendance. I had a feeling Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn (Tanner Novlan), Hope (Annika Noelle) and Thomas (Matthew Atkinson), and others wouldn’t be present. I get schedules and budgets and all the obstacles soaps face, but, the man was recently two seconds away from staying in “the good place.” A normal remarriage ceremony, OK, stay home. But because Eric almost died not too long ago, make the effort to get there and witness his happiness, please.

And then there were the happy mints that I guess Luna grabbed from her mom’s purse. The ones she kept popping whenever she wanted to kiss RJ (Joshua Hoffman). Your breath is fine, Luna! At the end of the episode, we got a clearer picture of what was about to happen. And, for now, I’m in denial with where this may be leading. All I know is this Zende/Luna business is starting to remind me of Drucilla (Victoria Rowell) and Malcolm (Shemar Moore) from years ago on The Young and the Restless. Except instead of cold meds, it’s now happy “mints.” Yikes.

Other B&B Thoughts

Baby Daddy Alert: Okay, Poppy (Romy Park) has now repeatedly said Bill (Don Diamont) isn’t Luna’s father. Bill asked over and over and while Poppy appreciated how much he actually wanted to be Luna’s dad, she insisted he wasn’t. And I’m fine with this because I’ve always thought there was no drama if Bill turned out to be the father. So now let’s quickly move on and find out who is. Will a curious Dollar Bill try to find out on his own because he doesn’t actually believe Poppy? Or will Luna decide to take matters into her own hands?

What do you think? Post a comment!

Favorite B&B-related Socia Media Post: Matt Hanvey (whose B&B posts are hilarious) who was “happy about Eric and Donna remarrying but…No Marcus? No Pam?? No Felicia/Thorne interference??? Ridge is happy about it???? The man who wrecked Eric’s last marriage is officiating????? W T F ?”

Is it Just Me: Is anybody else upset that Poppy is sticking to her guns here? Luna has every right to know who her father is. Nozawa Power is great and I’m happy these two are close and that they can count on each other over anyone else. But, now that Luna’s seriously asking about her dad’s identity, I think she’s owed a credible explanation. Something, anything. Poppy looks offended that Luna’s even asking, and that’s not sitting well with me.

Random Comment: Next time we see Carter and Katie (Heather Tom) together, I would love to get an actual conversation from them regarding what’s going on with them.

Burning Question: I may have mentioned this before, but I’m going to again. Is Il Giardino the only restaurant in town?
