The Bold and the Beautiful’s Thomas has no doubts at all that Hope loves him. Sure, she hasn’t been able to say it — yet — but he knows he will hear those three little words one day and is willing to be patient as Hope figures out the rest of her life.
Hope (Annika Noelle) is still getting over a long-term toxic relationship and marriage in which she was cheated on over and over again and was expected to forgive at the drop of a hat. Liam (Scott Clifton) tried to rule her life for a very long time and Hope finally broke free and doesn’t even know what it’s like to be loved completely and unconditionally.
She also can’t just erase the fraught past she had with Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). After all, he did do the unthinkable during the darkest time in his life and kept Hope’s child from her. Hope knows he is a changed man and who Thomas is today makes her happy, as she has told multiple people. So, she is falling in love with Thomas but is just not there quite yet.
Then again, Hope likely already loves Thomas as she shows it with her actions, eyes, and mannerisms when they are together. She is just afraid of another shattered heart after Liam broke it over and over again for years.
Hope also seems to fear what others think, namely her mother. Although Hope has made it clear to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) that she is with Thomas now, she keeps asking her mother if she can accept them. Brooke makes it quite clear she cannot and recently begged Hope not to accept Thomas’s proposal.
Hope herself can barely believe that it’s Thomas she wants after all these years of telling him she’d never love him, so it’s hard to admit to herself that she does.
Hope doesn’t doubt that Thomas is not the same man he was when he kept the fact that Beth was alive from her, but it might not be something she can get over. While that possibility is slim, it’s still out there and one Thomas might need to prepare himself for.
