B&B Emergency: Carter Walton Needs to See More Action —ASAP

Carter Walton of CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful is the whole package. He’s hot, smart, rich, empathetic, loyal, supportive, sexy, and did we mention hot? So why does the massively muscled Forrester Creations COO always have to wait such a long time between storylines? 

Carter Walton: His Quarter Life

To be fair, Carter’s (Lawrence Saint-Victor) last major arc was a winner. Carter and Quinn (Rena Sofer) were one of those unexpected and unexpectedly sizzling couples you wish for on soaps. Their chemistry was fire, and their love was forbidden. Quinn’s rocky marriage to Eric Forrester (John McCook) meant lots of venting to her “friend” Carter. For his part, Carter’s love life was a disaster. When the two ended up connecting on multiple levels — physically and emotionally — fans fell in love with them.

Their affair was fun and messy and created conflict between Carter and the Forresters, including Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), his bestie. The whole circus involved interrupted ceremonies, personal portraits, secret liaisons, “playing” Pickleball at the club, and heart rate monitoring via fitness watches. Eric went from an inability to perform at all to an inability to perform with Quinn. Apparently, he had no issues performing with his honey, Donna (Jennifer Gareis). 

Once the dust settled, Carter and Quinn were a true couple worth rooting for — they were together, every obstacle disposed of, and we were all eager to see them live their best lives for years to come. Unfortunately, nothing much more transpired, and ultimately, Rena Sofer decided to leave the show. 

Rebound or Real Thing?

The end of Quinn and Carter happened off-screen, basically. Eventually, Carter started confiding in Katie Logan (Heather Tom) and vice versa. A relationship bloomed despite baggage in the form of Dollar Bill Spencer (Don Diamont). Thankfully, at the time, the fickle billionaire still carried a torch for her sister, freeing Katie to do her own thing. Carter and Katie developed into a couple, but unfortunately, not one that was a priority for the writers.

Briefly, the show tried to muster up an obstacle when Bill suddenly wanted to reunite with Katie. Since then, there hasn’t been romance, conversation, or drama centered on them. Do they even have a couple-name that fans easily reel off on social media? Currently, on the show, everybody’s focus is on Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) and Hope (Annika Noelle), Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), and Eric’s health. What kind of couple are Katie and Carter? Are they an endgame kind of couple? Are they rootable or simply a rebound relationship? Time for the show to decide. 

Commitments and Connections

Please bring Carter in off the bench. Introduce a story for Katie and Carter or, better yet, give him a business-related story. At Forrester, he’s often the odd man out since he isn’t blood. After a particularly frustrating time (like, say, being kept in the dark about what’s going on with Eric), he can decide to quit the family company and strike out on his own, start his own business/firm. He could still work with the Forresters but also branch out and tackle other projects or cases that could get him in trouble. 

Or, why not introduce a family member or bring back one from the past? Expand Carter’s imprint on the show. Create some sort of rival for him à la Ridge vs. Bill or Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) vs. Taylor (Krista Allen), or Everybody vs. Sheila. Lawrence Saint-Victor probably has ideas of his own since he is an Emmy-nominated writer for the show. Right now, we’re not opposed to him writing himself a front-burner story.
