A Critic’s Review Of The Bold and the Beautiful: Twisted In-Laws & Deja Vu

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: The Critic’s POV

There was really only one development and one development only this week, and that was Steffy’s rather abrupt exit from Los Angeles, a plot point made necessary to facilitate Jacqueline MacInnes Wood’s maternity leave.

Aside from those few scenes on Monday’s airshow where RJ (Joshua Hoffman) and his floppy bangs beseeched Hope (Annika Noelle) to look inside herself for the answer as to which fella she should pursue [GAG!], the Hope/Thomas situation — which the writers seemed to bend over backward to facilitate — was completely ignored — which is a choice.

Despite having already previously resolved to throw his all behind Eric (John McCook), RJ spent the majority of Friday vowing to throw his all behind Eric. And at this point, I’m sure Scott Clifton must be suffering from a most frighting case of déjà vu because it must be a full month now since he’s said much of anything besides a variation of “Hey, I’m not looking to interfere in Steffy’s marriage, but I super-duper love and adore her and I’d be an idiot not to jump at the opportunity to reunite her because I super-duper love and adore her.”

However, I will give this to the scriptwriters — the Spencer men remain the funniest and most easily to relate to the family unit in the whole of daytime drama. I could and would happily watch those three give each other “the business” for an entire episode or more.

Further B&B Musings

* I get it, I really do. Sheila is the absolute scum of the earth. The worst of the worst. But here’s my issue. Steffy goes on and on about how she could never have that monster for a mother-in-law, but Bill, who schemed to straight up murder a pregnant woman and very nearly cost Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) his life was an A-Okay father-in-law and everybody’s perfectly content with having him around the wee ones — and he didn’t even save one of their lives.

* So, what exactly was the point of Sheila suddenly getting behind Team Steam when it’s clear that Steffy/Jacqueline was heading off the canvas and very much away from Liam?

Speaking of Sheila, I’m going to call it now: It’ll be Finn (Tanner Novlan), in Deacon’s (Sean Kanan) studio apartment, with the nunchaku of death.
